Title: Glest Videos
Post by: martiño on 24 December 2007, 20:11:20
Hello,

We will be posting links to Glest videos that have been uploaded to YouTube, either by the Glest Team or other people.

Glest Video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qyEZV5uqM2g) - Glest video made by tucho.

Magic Rush (http://youtube.com/watch?v=9YilxYf8DbM) - Video showing how to rush a Tech AI using the Magic faction.

Glest Life 2 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=OeiFG5xaib8) - Video showing half life 2 mod for Glest.

You can make your own videos using CamStudio (http://camstudio.org) which is free, or Camtasia (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp) which has a free trial and can also record audio.

(update by titi:)
More videos can be found in the glest wiki (https://docs.megaglest.org/Videos)!
Linux users can use glc (http://nullkey.ath.cx/projects/glc) to record glest videos. Mencoder is recommended to recode it to a useful format.

for linux users there's a command called recordmydesktop which can be used  for screencasting. It saves in ogg, but I'm not sure if it records the sound though.

I had a lot of difficulty recording Glest on Linux when I was doing my school project. I ended up using a trial version of SnagIt on Windows. The video is here (http://http://www.divshare.com/download/1928012-5f3) which is a mix of mods recorded by me and other people.

Great video, I wonder if you could upload it to youtube too, so more people would see it.

Try yukon ( http://dbservice.com/projects/yukon/wiki (http://dbservice.com/projects/yukon/wiki) ) for capturing with linux.

TipCam (http://http://www.utipu.com/app/) is another video program for Windows XP and Vista. I'm not sure if it works for 3d games.

Nobodies posted here for a long time, but I think I'll add a funny video. It shows what happens when a necromancer (my own version from ancient tech tree) runs the 100M relay!

Done. Google Video and Youtube. Someone rate it!

Scary, right now, google video is flooded with videos about the Greyhound bus beheading. Scarier, that happened only 300 km from me. I'm never gonna sleep! :O

I just got CamStudio how does it work oh i spelled it wrong!

[Really? Is it easier, to write "oh i spelled it wrong!" than to emend your wrong (one!) word? - @kukac@]

Cam Studio is pretty good. Just set the region (ie: window or a specific area) then hit record. Stop when done the video. Once you stop it, a save dialogue comes up. It's quite easy. Also there's a handy thing called the instruction manual that came with it (click the button that says help). Might want to read that. ::)

Ya I saw a neat mars tech. (Not aliens people.)
I think Is some version of SST. But I got all the ones I could find but I didn't get that one.

I don't think it's associated with SST and there is no download available for it that I can find. https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=1296.0

I made my first working glest video yesterday using linux!

this is what you need:
http://nullkey.ath.cx/projects/glc
( and mencoder to recode to something smaller :) )

And you will need a lot of free diskspace too!
See my video, this one needed 3,2 GB to record!

Most capture software has issues capturing openGL and DirectX output because of the way it's written to the screen. I understand that "Fraps" is good for that sort of thing. I've not tried my CamStudio, but it worked in Blender3D (which is openGL).

No, I'm pretty sure Valve finished it. I even recall playing it. In fact, I remember PAYING for it. Sure it took a while to make...

Thanks for subscribing to my channel.
I'll probably not post a video too soon, because I'm still searching for better ways to record, convert, and edit videos...

So are you being sarcastic or.
Anyways, I tried, but I kinda failed at it. It is hard.

I remember some people were going to make some videos...but I guess eh, they backed down.

EDIT: This person has some cool Glest Videos... from youku...

Thanks!

Alright, now since I upgraded my graphics card, I can make decent videos. Unfortunately I won't have as much time as I have had before, but that can't be helped...
I also made all my videos "unlisted" so people won't think badly of Glest because of the quality of my old videos...bad for my number of views, but good for Glest/Glest's reputation and mines.

Happy Holidays!

I write excerpt what they said in the japanese megaglest video asked by ultifd.  :D

Probably the video taken a their second online match against mega CPU norseman (two human players and one observer).
The persian player had hard time to build a farm ( he doesn't know how to build it ).  :O
A player said it's hard to keep a balance between military and economy in magic faction (the one said magic may better being turtle).
Magic player said Daemons are so weak.  :O
The Persian player forgot to keep food supply and starved his villagers. lmao
Magic player said it's hard to build a dragon.
The observer have wife near watching him.   ;D
They said pegasuses(valkyries?) are bad-ass.  8)
A player laughed at the archmage could shoot only one shot (another player followed they have high ep-regain).
Magic player worried whether he should upgrade dragons or mass produce them without upgrade.
Persian player sorry for he starved his units, without the event they could beat cpu more quick.
