Is there a palm (.prc) port of glest available?
-
I don't think there is.
-
I feel like palm's impossible, but what about iPhone? iPhone has opengl, albeit an embedded version, but how much opengl functionality does glest actually use? Are there any iPhone owners that know anything about this?
-
i dont have an iphone :( also i dont think that there are enough iphone users (not in my aria at least) to warrant a port to it
-
Well I'm following the development for iPhone, and there's already a gameboy advance emulator, Playstation emulator, and port of OpenTTD. And that's all from ONE developer.
-
WOW! maybe i should buy an i phone! do these work on the itouch?
-
Indeed they do (I have an iPod touch). The platforms are the same, so anything written for one works on the other, unless it uses a phone only feature, such as the camera. They still run, but they can't take any pictures!
Anyway, my point was that I would like to be able to take a good strategy game around with me all the time.

I wasnt aware apple had released their OpenSDK for iPhone/touch yet, though I would think that there would be numerous issues such as handling multiple cursor points at once and tiny text GUI issues.
edit:: I can only find safari website based apps and documents on apple. It seems that an Apple native SDK is not available yet, and any native programs involve voiding your warranty.

There is no official sdk as of now, and I probably won't use programs written with it when it comes out, because they will most likely cost money and be distributed through itunes.
Preforming a "Jailbreak" and using native apps can in no way void your warranty, however, becuase it simply changes a unix property of your drive, which can easily be undone through itunes at any time. They have know way of knowing you did anything! Unlocking, on the other hand, or messing with the baseband and such, can and does break your terms of service (if you use at&t in the us), and I believe it also voids your warranty.
I don't have an iPhone to unlock, but I don't think I would care about the warranty, because it would just ware out in one year anyway.
Although, you seem to be right on your first point, it wouldn't work at all with the text and such. I just promised someone on another forum I would ask about getting a decent rts.

I wanted to put OpenTTD on my Ngage but the screen is too small. :'(
