Title: Glest 3.0.0-beta released, with improved multiplayer
Post by: martiño on 15 January 2008, 22:03:15
Hello,

I have uploaded 3.0.0 beta. This version should be way more stable, we've tested the game quite a lot with 2 players. Please send us your
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.glest.org/glest_board/viewtopic.php?t=3147]feedback[/url].

How to play:

1) Download the data (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest_data_3.0.0beta6.zip) package.

2a) Under windows, download the binaries (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest_win32_bin_3.0.0beta5.zip) package and unzip both in the same folder.

2b) Under Linux, download the latest code from the svn and compile it. Please nothe that you have to either use the same build of the game, or disable network consistency checks in glest.ini.

You can also download the data from the svn now, however remember to delete all .svn folders, otherwise glest will crash at startup.

Improvements:

- New network code:
Makes the game more stable and with less lag

- Hotkeys:

a => activate attack command for selection
m => activate move command for selection
s => issue stop command to selection
i => select next idle harvester
b => select next building
d => select next damaged unit
t => select next storage unit
r => select next producer unit

- Units renamed:
Daemon Giant is now called Behemoth, Armored Swordman is now called Guard, Magic Armor is now called Ghost Armor

- Reworked some of the upgrades for the tech faction

- Many balance changes

Server IP adress can now typed in from a connect menu and switching a player to network mode does not freeze the game anymore. :)

Furthermore the data files have been put into the Subversion repository!

Very well done!

Many balance changes

Uuh, I hope the things doesn't change too much. Balancing really needs a lot of time and I think my indians have to be rebalanced too. At the moment I'm working on a new version of the indians, because some of the buildings didn't had teamcolor in their textures. It was really annnoying when playing cooperative multiplayer games.

Title: Commands/Directories for SVN Download, Please
Post by: Inhibit on 16 January 2008, 17:36:52
Could someone post the access commands for SVN and make it a Linux forum sticky please?  I did a few searches and am coming up with nothing as far as cut-paste for the svn commands, and the above didn't give me the correct files to compile.  Thanks!

I think that static IP is not good for internet games. But if you want to play LAN games, it´s easy and fast to do.

Ok?

Static IP's have nothing to do with it. In fact, they may be better... The problem is that you have to open the firewall in your computer and/or router/modem.

Watzup Dudes. I waz wondering if "Glest Online" will be able to host both Human players and Computer AI players. Also, how many people will be able to play on the same level? And, will you still be able to play in teams? So soz, j/w.

you seem to have an old version of pvectl.

# dpkg -l pve-manager

should show  "pve-manager      0.9-4"

What version do you use?

Besides, the member with those issues hasn't been on this year. :-\
The date on which they posted is shown below the posts topic name.

No hard feelings or anything of the sorts.
