Title: Glest 3.1.0 Beta
Post by: martiño on 9 February 2008, 22:47:15
Hello,

Following the release of 3.0.0, we are working on a few things that will improve the multiplayer experience:

- In game chat.
- Easier way of connecting to hosts.
- New maps suitable for multiplayer.

All this stuff is added to the new 3.1.0-beta.

For windows: Download the patch at www.glest.org/files (http://www.glest.org/files)
For linux: Dowload the windows patch and use the data on it, as for the exe the code is in the svn.

Feedback would be welcome.

You can visit the irc channel at irc://irc.freenode.net/glest (http://irc://irc.freenode.net/glest) to arrange multiplayer matches.

Martiño.

You need to open your glest.ini file and insert:

Code: [Select]
FocusArrows=1
FogOfWar=1
FogOfWarSmoothing=1

Find the focusArrows and FOWsmoothing, and put FogOfWar in the middle.

PS:Martino, don't forget to tell about the new keyboard commands, etc!!

n=show clients
...?

Yes, so the you use the chat the following way:

Press enter, then type your message, then press enter again.

Using 'H' you switch between "Team" and "All"  mode.

Chat doesn't work on linux yet, we will implement it as soon as we can

Regads.

Ive tried that, it was already in there. Ive reinstalled the whole game, and downloaded the patch again off the internet it gives me the same error.

I even downloaded the beta 11 that came out a while after this one yesterday, and it gives me the same thing.

So right now I reinstalled the game, but I can't put on the patch without it crashing.

I have the same problem I've downloaded the new patch (beta12) several times and replaced the glest.ini but it gives the FogOfWar error.

I'm sure the syntax is right and I have checked it several times but it still gives the error :(
