Title: Glest 3.1.0 Released
Post by: martiño on 14 February 2008, 00:06:37
Hello,

Today we've released version 3.1.0 of Glest. This version contains several improvements for the online component and a new menu background.

New features.

- In-game chat
- Main menu background model changed
- Server IPs are now stored in a file, and can be used later
- Network status key
- Map changes: Added 'Swamp of Sorrow' and 'Valley of Death', removed 'One on One' and 'The Ruins'
- Balance changes

How to get the game.

Windows: Download the installer (http://http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest_3.1.0.exe?use_mirror=osdn) and follow the instructions.

Linux: Download the data (http://http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest_data_3.1.0.zip?use_mirror=osdn). Then you can download the source code (http://http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest-source-3.1.0.tar.bz2?use_mirror=garr) and compile it, however if you are going to play over LAN/Internet, is highly recommended the you use the official binaries (http://http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/glest_linux32_bin_3.1.0.tar.gz?use_mirror=osdn)(thanks to titi), to prevent the game from getting out of sync.

You removed one-on-one map?
That's bad :( I really liked it! maps are so small, why don't you include all good maps out there ? ( for example 50 different maps )
This will give us more fun playing it without having trouble that someone doesn't have the map.

I've seen your patch, and I don't really see what is going on, keyPress should work fine, since it is the same event used for the chat in the main game, is anybody else getting the same problem?

yes, same problem here. You can insert two more chars, but you can't delete them ( backspace doesn't work ). Thats why I added the fix.

there is a linux glest 3.1.0 binary ... http://www.glest.org/glest_board/viewto ... 3539#13539 (http://www.glest.org/glest_board/viewtopic.php?p=13539#13539)

Yeah, but I'm thinking that the patch would break the windows version, I will take a look.

I just used it for the binary release. You can fix it the way you want it in the next version.

hi ..  i didnt had the chance to try multiplayer yet

------------

PUBLISH ON MASTER SERVER LIST:

...  what if you put -publish on master server list / find public servers- option ? .. that would give us the chance to talk and try the game quickly

.. like other good open games like cube/sauerbraten, tremulous, etc ...  or some lobby like battle.net, kali.net, kahncentral :)

yeah, a new background ;))

And it would be really great if you could include a server browser...like all other games (Pioneers, teewars etc.)
That would be really, really great.

But for now, the chat function is something that I've missed...thanks for that :)

greatings

Hey thats greate. Is it OK to ask for a ZIP of the binaries for windows, instead of the installer?
