This idea came upon me today. RSS (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS) is xml and xerces is already used for xml so that wouldn't be a problem. It also means that people can use it in other programs (or incorporated into other feed readers) because it is a standard format and it is not limited to just one list.
All that would need to be done is create a simple feed reader that retrieves the ip and game description and have the game send http requests to a page when a game is created (add item) and is unavailable (remove item).

The idea is good, but this means a master server hosts the RSS feed...
Everything always comes back to the same problem, doesn't it?

Not really, people can setup their own rss feed and make it known (have a list on the wikia maybe) but I agree having a master server would be better but that shouldn't be too difficult to setup.
I found http://www.hitrss.com/ (http://www.hitrss.com/) but I'm not sure if it would work.

But unless it's in the game, there's no advantage to using the lobby setup.
And we can't embed 3rd party master servers in the game unless the glest team supports it. Which for now, they say they won't.
