I am running Glest 3.1.1 from the Fedora repository, and there is a segmentation fault type of crash when I start a new game and select an acolyte and try to start gathering resources. It doesn't matter what type of resource is may be (gold, stone, wood) the game will always crash with a segmentation fault message on the console. I have run glest through strace and produced an output of the crash, the question is where could I upload the bizp2 file of the dump, about ~300Kb (the plain text weighs in about 16 megabytes). I don't know which binaries are used by the Fedora project packagers, but somehow I think they build the binaries from source.

Do you now how to compile? if, you can try making your own and see if it still crashes.

Actually I can, will try to build it and see if it still happens... Last time I tried there were some strange deps, though.

same probleme there
I'm on Ubuntu hardy 64bits
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Core Duo
ATI X1250
with restricted drivers etc..
I will try to compile but
Glest was ok on ubuntu gutsy with the same graphic cards
With Hardy, kernel and restricted drivers were udpated..

there was a problem with glest and some ati driver versions but in the newest ati driver version this seems to be fixed
try installing ati-drivers version 8.5 (inofficial verision number 8.493)
works for me
(gentoo amd64 ati radeon x1250 onboard graphics)
