Title: GAE forum?
Post by: martiño on 24 April 2008, 14:22:01
Hello,

It really seems that GAE is becoming quite popular, i wonder if you guys want to have your own forum section, I could also make daniel santos moderator on that forum so he can post stickies and stuff.

Regards.

It would be temporary though because when I finish working on the GAE website, I will add a forum of it's own.

Edit: read below.

If you guys are going to have your own forum i think it is better to keep things in one place, we will put a link to your website somewhere anyway.

Regards.

oooh, I would love to have a forum section here! :) ), so I would prefer keeping as much together as possible.

What GAE really needs also is a bug database.  I started setting one up, but (as usual) got side tracked.  Maybe I can find some time to do this this weekend or next.  The other thing that's needed is a better build/release script, which I'm going to try to do this weekend (one that does doxygen docs too).  It would be great if I could get an environment setup on the server to do the 32 bit builds as well, I guess I can work on that too.  But that's off-topic :)

I would also prefer a GAE forum section in this place instead of an external forum! By this the community doesn't get splitted and you have to read only one forum to be up to date!

Are you ok with this orion? do you guys want some more time to decide? It is true that GAE should eventually merge with the official port, but it looks like you guys are doing all the development right now, and we are really busy so I don't really know when this is going to happen... If you decide to go on with your own website tell me and I will put a link to it in our one, if not I will open a new section in the board.

Regards.

Martiño.

I'D also prefer to get it in a section here. Wouldn't be too complex to put in a view of this section in another site, though this is your, and especially daniel's, decision.

Martino, I agree with you that we should keep the forum section here. First of all, this IS the official website and like you said, people would get kind of confused. Second of all, I'm not that strong in PHP yet...so I support keeping the forum here. I don't think I'm even going to make another forum on the website now that I'm thinking about it.

By the way, if you have the time, is it ok if there is a new user group named "GAE Team"? :D

Thankyou!! Thankyou!! Thankyou!! Thankyou!! Thankyou!!...[1000 more times]

PS: I hope I'm not annoying you Martino, but would you please rename the "GAE" forum to "Glest Advanced Engine" forum. Several of my friends have asked "What the heck is GAE?". I think "Glest Advanced Engine" says more than "GAE"
