Title: Windows XP: can not initialized
Post by: object on 20 February 2009, 12:44:45
Hi,
i do a fresh, clean install of "Windows XP Home" with all updates (service pack3)
This  application are installed (not more):
Avira AntiVir (for virus detection),
AddAware (for spyware detection),
Glest 3.2.1

If i want to start Glest i get only a message box:
Cant initialize the application (0xc0150002), Press OK to close it.
Note: Im not a nativ speaker and i translate it from german to english (hope it comes close).

I try also form the cmd shell to see some erros but nothing.

The problem is gone with the last DOT NET update.

Thanks
Wolfgang

We have the same problem here on 3 different XP computers!!!
Why do we need dot.net to run glest???

(UPDATE: I installed "NETCFSetupv35.msi" But this doesn't fix anything!! Whats wrong?

Same error here, don't wanna actualize .NET, WGA would catch me (Windows licenses here are a pain to the pocket). Any way to actualizing .NET without atracting WGA? Or some other way to fix it?

That's quite bad

i must have compiled glest with some sort of dot net crap by mistake, I'll try to fix the issue ASAP.

I think I found the cause of this problem. I think it was the lua libraries being compiled the wrong way. I've uploaded a new windows installer (just use the main link in the downloads section again, it will still say 3.2.1 but it is a new version).

Could you guys check if the problem is fixed?

By the way, I've fixed it by copying the file msvcr80.dll to the glest folder. Temporary fix but it works.

I installed only DOT NET 3.5 and it worked.
