ok...im a great noob and from brasil so my english sucks a bit(a lot)
i installed the game by synaptic on my Debian (using kde 3.5) ok i runs poorly... the i remembered that i have forgotten to install my nvidia drivers.... so i installed them and my glest stopped working...try to remove the nvidia driver again and no good... changed from KDE to Gnome ... same thing....
not a clue about the problem because of this....
when i run in terminal as root it apears this...
# '/usr/share/applications/glest.desktop'
bash: /usr/share/applications/glest.desktop: Permissão negada (it means permission denied)
any idea? btw i unistalled the nvidia driver and still not put it back...

Starting has root, you obviously shouldn't be getting permission denied messages... Have you rebooted since all this crashing? There might be a lock on it.
Barring that, I guess try re-installing Glest.

Perhaps desktop files are not meant to be executed like that. Try running the binary from the actual directory.

ok i just figured that is an nvidia problem....
the problem consist in.:
1. click on glest icon on aplication->games->glest
2. screen gliches black and retur to normal (on the bottom of the screen apears glest loadin)
3. glest loadin disapear and nothing happens.
when run in terminal it says like "permission denied"
i formated and reinstalled all debian... now directly with gnome... it works porrly again... so i went to nvidia driver via synaptic and boom crashed again....
i gess ill have to find a way to install nvidia driver
any help would be nice =)
tnks anyway =)

You could download the linux installer from nvidia (a sh file). You then run that outside of the desktop environment and it compiles the kernel with the drivers. You need the kernel headers.
There should be detailed instructions for it on their website.
