I am just wondering if an official server for glest is being worked on at the moment or sometime in the soon future. No offense to the people who've already worked hard on this game, especially since it's a non profit game so people can't just work on glest all day.

No news on this so far.
You know, what if we did what Sauerbraten does for multiplayer. We have our games hosted locally to reduce lag (never realized it until I read about it), but can choose from a list of games to join. I'm not sure how Sauerbraten works, but the multiplayer is quite nice. Of course, we still have a problem about the lack of many players (whenever I try to play, there's nobody to play with!)
Also, how would local games over a router work with that?
Anyway, there's no work as far as I know on that, but that can be a future possibility...

I have a great idea or two, but i don't have time to post it right now. =D

An official server is something for the future once multiplayer is working properly in GAE unless Martiño beats us to it.
@Omega: I'm not sure what you mean by local over the router since anything that does routing for a home user is most likely on the Internet. Unless you mean all computers are on the same network in which case you would just use your local IP addresses and everything else is the same.

You got it. I wouldn't know, since I don't use a router (DIAL-UP)! ;D (happy, happy, happy... >:()
