Nice, but isn't this post in the wrong section?
-
I like! The trees remind me of Morrowind (that's a good thing). Is it done or still a work in progress?
Wait, how did you do the sky?! :o
-
That is very cool! I wonder how you got the moon in the sky?

I moved this topic to the right section...
Looks good!
Will there be a download available soon?
-
Thanks for the feedback.
I did a little bit of work in paint.net to add the mist and sky (GAE leaves those horrible jagged edges).
Download will follow shortly...

So you didn't actually make that in the tileset? Because in glest I don't know how to get such an angle.
-
Yes it looks really good.
-
this looks pretty amazing :)
-
Must download when reach my pccccc........................
Awesome tileset
-
soon?
-
no doubt one of the best tilesets in my opinion ;D
-
you can't download it yet, right?
-
Nope - waiting on Wciow :P
-
can't wait for it =)
-
Tilesets set the mood for a game. factions are nice but new settings make for a fresh game - even old maps get a new life.
Very much looking forward to Swamp and Nile.
-
I agree completely with your trappin cause its like the theme and the factions are the characters , which i can't wait for both of the tile sets to get finished nile and swamp :D
-
Heres the download link.

Wow! Finally a download link! I have been craving this for years! (Well only a few days :P)

The leaves are always 1 dimensional! Thats the trick

Yes, but you have to make sure to have multiple planes and small leaves in order to disguise it.
-
The leaves on the tileset are fine - its the leaves on object-8 custom 3 which have an odd in-game visual appearance but I don't know the proper modeling/texturing terminology to describe why.
-
i AM DOWNLOADING NOW WILL TRY SOON.
-
I think you had caps lock on or something, I recommend doing a quick check of what you wrote before you post.
-
Moved to first post.
-
@Trappin: this might be the "shadow problem" . If you have a surface thats visible from both sides, the shadow/sun lighting is calculated using the normal of a plane which results in strange lighting problems. If you have something like this you can fix it by adding a second copied plane next to the original one. like this:
| (normal plane a)
----------------------------------------------------- plane a
----------------------------------------------------- plane b
| (normal plane b)
This will fix it, when a and b are very near to each other.
-
Titi - I understand what you mean but I don't know where the code line is to edit Windows XP XML files.
I'm a computer noob and know nothing about code (though I took one semester of FORTRAN and COBAL) in 1983 :D LMAO
-
I tested it out, neat but the mossy rock needs more difrent tiles because it looks like a checker board.
-
Designed a swamp map here (https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4806.msg34539#msg34539).
-
It is a complete usable tileset, but I am willing to improve it if anyone has some suggestions...
-
I didn't download yet, but what would be cool is some dead trees which are odd / twisted.
concept (http://www.elfwood.com/art/a/n/andimayer/fantasy_forest_2.jpg)
I know it's too spread out, but I think you'll understand what I mean.
-
The tree/dead tree objects are nice. Some of the models have a disc-shaped fungal growth on the trunks which look pretty cool. The secondary texture surface 1c and 1f seem to tile poorly but the others look nice. My only complaint would be game-code based rather than tileset-model based. The option to place specific object models would be nice - I'd like to litter some map locations with a fallen tree(log) rather than have a random tree truck model. An example of this would be to place the swamp_dead_tree_3 model on a tile in water next to the shoreline.
Swamp has a very atmospheric feel to it - the fog and lighting settings combined with good color choices really make the tileset work.
-
Dead download link - could you please post a new one?
-
This also breaks links on glest.wikia and glestmaps.wikia.

Thx, but I use p7zip for Linux :P :P
Very Great Models! Congratulations!

Wow. It's been a year. So does anyone else agree that this tileset should be included in the megapack/megaglest? If not, what changes should be made?
-
I voted yes, for what it's worth.
-
The Swamp tileset is amazing, has great graphics, and obviously a lot of work put into it. Full support.
-
I agree, it's really nice!
I just tried it then.
-
I'll add this to the list of things to be done before the release, then. Perhaps I should remind wciow about it, as I did ask him a week or two ago when we were trying this tileset. I guess the only thing that needs work is the ground textures. The only other data change that I think is needed is some splash for the snake basket of the Persian faction...
Edit: I guess Swamps could use the new tileset particles too...
-
This tileset needs more different things. Always same trees always same rocks, always same dead trees ...
just for grass more then one surface...
THIS TILESET IS NOT FINISHED!!! please finish it. it looks so nice but ingame its very boring because its always the same.
-
I think it's fine, it's easily my favourite tileset.
-
I gotta agree with Psychedelic_hands here, it's a very well made tileset and I think it's perfectly fine as it is. Technically speaking, nothing is ever perfect and everything can always be improved (chocolate that whitens your teeth!), but as far as Glest mods go, this looks pretty darn fine.
