P.S. cool palms!

Titi is actually making a faction about ancient egyptians. In answer to your question, no, but I can see why you might think they are. In fact, a large number of historians are trying to link the aztecs and incas to the egyptians. The reason is they found tobacco in a sarcophagus of a mummy, which only grew at the time in the americas. But the similarities in the peasantry's dress could be just coincidental, the climates pretty much dictated white loincloths to be good, non-exertive clothing.
BTW: Nice palms! Those go great with your egyptian faction.
-
Yes the palms look good.
-
How about:
-South America
-Hawaii
-Ancient
-Ancient Tropical
something among those
-
i got the Egyptian beta, it is fun (still needs work though). and the palms would go just great with the Egyptians!
-
Nice Titi. Finding a name will be hard though with all the abstract ones that fit this taken (topic, desert, etc;). What about 'Amazonia'?
-
Oasis
The desert is an ocean
in which no oar is dipped.
On this ocean, the Bedu go where they
please and strike where they please.
This is the way the Bedu has
always fought.
...I long for the vanished
gardens of Cordoba.
-
I'd call it Nile.
-
I agree with john nile seems to fit it perfect ;)
-
Yeah Nile! I was thinking among something among that ancient egypt concept :P
-
Yeah nile is good! This name will shure help me to think about the missing models and the watercolor of course! .
-
woot i'd thank john lol i just like it cause it fits your mod perfectly
-
Both nile and oasis are fine. I like 'oasis' because it is not specific to the nile river region. It could be southern spain, as in cordoba, the middle east, or polynesia.
-
i wanna see more of this titi , show me more :P
-
here is my current version ( work in progress!! )
its currently called mediterran, but I will change it.
http://www.titusgames.de/tilesets/mediterran.7z (~4,5 MB)
There is a very interisting plugin for gimp! Its called Resynthesizer and it speeds up creating similar looking and tileable ground tiles very much!!
-
Good! Ill need that.
-
Anyone has feedback for me? What do you think of the ground textures? I'm still not very happy with them, but my family says they are good. What do you think?
-
I looked at Mediterranean using default map Big River.gbm
Everything from the color of the water to the mossy rocks and textures look very nice.
The secondary grass surface texture was used quite a bit by the map designer for Big River.gbm - this looks good when using forest/evergreen tilesets because of the minor color variations between grass and secondary grass surfaces. The deep orange colored secondary grass of Mediterranean does not integrate well with the primary brown/tan grass surface texture - at least on this map. I noticed the same thing on wciows Swamp tileset where his snowflake/fractal secondary grass texture repeat often.
This isn't a problem on maps where secondary grass textures are used infrequently. In fact, there really isn't a problem with the color variations on this tileset or swamp. The problem is, we need more mappers making tileset specific maps which showcase these unique texture features to their full visual advantage.
Nice artwork and colors titi.
-
The ground looks ok, better then I ken make. I can't get any thing to tile :-[.
-
use gimp then. go under map and hit make seamless it will auto tile perfectly
-
Here it is: currently called tileset mediterran:
http://www.titusgames.de/tilesets/mediterran2.7z (~4,4 MB)
I will probably rename it to something different when it will be included in the megapack v5.
( Hint for the mappers: The ugly texture called custom5 or whatever is also set to something useful in this tileset.
I will try to add somethings for the other tilesets too if the mappers like it and start to use it. )
-
Another awesome tileset Titi.
I think the first ground texture needs a little less contrast to help it blend better.

Sounds good to me. If you have time to add C5 textures to old tilesets then do it - but there aren't many mappers so those textures may never be used.

Mediterranean Element Set
Ver2.0
-
These are very cool pics! Is something like this possible with the gae editor now or did you made it manually!
This is a big help for mappers!
-
Hah. manual work using an image editing tool.
But the map palate is easy-peasy to use now.
-
I allwas make my secondary tile sand, for my tilesets.
-
This is why I made Glest Map: Map Editor Palate.
Download the map and view the tileset. The map never changes but tileset elements, textures and models vary between each authors work.
-
Well this looks very good, Tile set and Map Editor Palate.
-
designed a map for this tileset here (https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4771.0).

I don't think calling Cordoba an oasis very is realistic.
Namely, palm trees are certainly not native to the Iberian peninsula (Portugal + Spain)! They can and have been grown (read "imported") to good looking specimens, most preferably in the southern part of the peninsula, though.
Also, I would not think the earth (or sand) would look that much alike, even at a distance.
No, there are no "oasis" in the Iberian pensinsula because there are no deserts here! Some arid areas yes, deserts no! Hence no oasis either. ;)
Mediterranean is also not a good title - what I said above is just about a rather small part of the "shores" of the Mediterranean...
And it's definitely NOT like the Amazonia! You'd have nothing but trees and trees and more trees in such a tileset! lol
Nile sound good to me. Could possibly be Mesopotamia as well?... Not sure... :-\ But if so, it be used with your Persians faction too, titi. ;)
Anyways, titi, it's looking very good, just for the pics I've seen on the topic - if it's improved since, all the better! :)
EDIT: Finished a sentece I hadn't finished before. ;D
-
titi - Are you planning any changes or is this tileset finished?
The quote referring to Cordoba is from Lawrence of Arabia. King Faisal dreams of recapturing the long lost gardens of Cordoba while waxing romantic about the Arabic age of intellectualism in Damascus.
On 23 October, 1916 at Hamra in the Wadi Safra, the first encounter took place between Feisal and Captain T. E. Lawrence, a relatively junior British intelligence officer from Cairo. Lawrence already had a vision of an independent, post-war Arabian state and knew it was essential to find precisely the right man to lead the Arab forces to achieve this.
With the help of Lawrence, Faisal sided with the British army and organised the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire helping to end the Caliphate. After a long siege he conquered Medina, defeating the defense organized by Fakhri Pasha.
Some of Faisal's critics considered fighting alongside Christians as a betrayal to Islam. This motivated Iqbal to write against him. Though Faisal was a descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, Arab nationalism and independence, not religion, was his main motivation.
Faisal also worked with the Allies during World War I in their conquest of Greater Syria and the capture of Damascus, where he became part of a new Arab government in 1918.

Currently I'm not planning to change something. Should i change something?
Maybe I lower the background sound volume a bit, but thats all. Or anyone wants me to add/change something?
-
Everything seems fine to me. Just wanted to know if any changes are planned which may alter map objects and surfaces.
Forging ahead.
