Big difficult to find people, but when you find someone, there is a heavy barrier: the different binaries issue.
The barrier to connect to other people with different Glest binary, makes practically impossible to play with other people, because a lot of circumstances:
- Windows/Linux port
- 32bits/64bits/ppc/etc
- Glest version
- Linux distribution/compilation
- ?
-
Use GAE..........
-
Can you give more complete explanations or references?
Thanks.

I don't really know much except that the compatibility issues are fixed.
-
Since which version connections can be made between different binaries?
-
I don't know.
-
Just open glest.ini and change network frequency check from 1 to 0 and then it dosen't mater if you have different binaries.

Usually using a CLEAN install of the 3.2.2 version is good. This has been the stable version for a while, and NO new versions are coming out. Magitech is the ideal tech tree since others you should be sure to use the same link (check your version numbers) to download.
Yes, GAE is better multiplayer, but it isn't stable enough (ie: doesn't work for me right now, hope to mass update this Xmas to fix). Be sure to disable the consistency checks in the INI to allow crossplatform gameplay. Sure it says it CAN get out of sync, but will it? I see no reason why it should.
