Hey guys i've not had my net for about a month now and i don't get to get on much , but in my away time i have created a great creative, fun , but very real simple mod , that takes place in a WW II era and i hope you enjoy it and don't worry its not really cruelity to animals its just they were used as the factions ;D

CONCEPT:This takes place in the WW II era and there are three different factions , the Coalition(rabbits) which is a representation of the americans . The opposition(dogs) which represent the germans. Also the Mother Land(bears) which are the russians. I have not yet decided to add another faction i most likely will and it will proably be the japs , but i also created a new tileset , which is urban conflict and please read the read me.
FACTS: The game is uploaded in a .rar format if you do not know what this is , just goto google and type in winrar simple as that. It also has its own installer quick and easy to use about 53 mbs in size. Some sounds are not in game , but everything else was made by me no one else.
ISSUES: The A.I will not play with the Mother Land for they are unstable to the A.I's system , you will see why. A.I will not create resource units which isn't a big problem just had to mention it.
LASTLY: Have a great time playing my mod hope you enjoy it as much as i did making it , and there will be plenty more in the coming time . ENJOY!!!!

For (k)ubuntu users go to synaptic (kpackagekit) and search unrar and rar then ark has the ability to unzip rar files. Nice if my internet wasnt so slow and bloated with downloads I'd get your mod

I've rigged my Krusader, I can open any archive, even debs if I want to, right in Krusader.

Very impressive for a first version. :D
I really like the idea behind this mod but I think it needs a little polish to really bring it out. The most ovious thing is that many of the textures need some improvement since they are too plain (sometimes just a single colour).
Unit design is really nice and creative I especially liked the opposition Devourer, Big Wolfen, Welder and Stormbringer, the mother land Harvester and the coalition Stormchaser.
Music is okay at first but quickly becomes repetitve. There are basically no unit sounds other than gunfire when fighting.
Balance is waaay off atm, coalition is best followed by opposition and mother land trails far behind. I like the idea of the harvesting units but the pace of the game becomes excruicatingly slow when playing mother land or opposition. If you're playing against coalition you might as well not bother since they will win every time. Also the A.I is pretty clueless about what to do other than churn out grunts.
There are also a few other small things such as only having one map with the mod, quite a few spelling mistakes and a somewhat bland tileset.
Having made a faction myself I know you must have put ALOT of work into making this. It is certainly the best Glest mod in a quite a while. Whilst it may not be as polished as some single faction mods (Egypt, Woodsmen, Elves), it makes up in sheer quantity of three large factions. I really hope to see an improved version of this in the future ;)
Also my advice to anyone else who hasn't downloaded this is to do so, you won't regret it!

I don't really have time to try this out right now, but it looks pretty cool so far. The textures could use substantial improvement, though, both on the units and the ground. The cobblestone ground texture looks like it's meant to tile, but it doesn't quite fit right. If you look at it from a distance, there's a "grid" to it. I look forward to seeing more developments on this mod.

That sounds like the same problem some people had before with another mod. Linux is, apparently, more specific about the filenames. You should compare the filenames with the .xmls. (Model.g3d is not the same as model.g3d, for instance)

Okay, I played it and here are my observations.
Motherland and Opposition have a HUGE disadvantage when it comes to harvesting resources! The Coalition can produce endless harvesters while the Motherland is restricted to just one, and Opposition can only have one per pile of resources (there's not enough room for two). I understand that the Coalition should be able to produce a lot of units really quickly (breeding like rabbits), but it's just way too big of an advantage. Other than that, a lot of the animations could stand to be redone, and a spell check could do wonders.
My overall assessment: not bad at all for an alpha. I hope you continue to develop and improve upon it, and I look forward to future releases.

Thanks guys sorry my net has been down agian , but i'm on my bros laptop and able to load up the vlances some of the resource gathering 0.02 which balances some of the factions btw added a zombie faction sample so you can test it out and let me know what you think but please give me some direct feedback so i can improve this greatly and i'm re vamping the textures and yea sorry for not using spell check lol but the link will be put on the main post thanks

Dude, I already tried taking the data out, it doesn't work because of some errors in the XML.

there aren't any errors in the xml or it wouldn't run at all

They might not be "errors" per se, but just incompatibilities. For example, if any of your XML files have capital letters, it won't work on Linux. Windows doesn't differentiate between capital and lower-case letters, while Linux does, so if Linux is looking for a unit called "unit_1", and all you have it "Unit_1", it won't work. That's my understanding of things, anyway, but the gist is "don't use capital letters".

In my experience glest in general does not allow capital letters , so i don't think i have any , but someone would have to check

This is a mod, your about screen says 3.2.1 because you are running 3.2.1, not 3.2.2.

This is a mod, your about screen says 3.2.1 because you are running 3.2.1, not 3.2.2.
Yeah your installer installs Glest 3.21 with Animal Cruelty in it...
I'll just re-install Glest 3.22 over it...
Or maybe not since it doesn't matter too much...

yea sorry guys i haven't updated my 3.21 lol forgive me , but it works fine , but @elim i know they are small to put them in scale with the trees and yes the alpha would look better , but please give me all the feedback you can on this mod

Probably not... maybe just because you haven't updated this much... ::) :P
It's also because of the new threads that people make that aren't really about Mods...although with Omega and Titi being administrators now that should soon not be a problem...
Oh yeah is the "mother load" problem fixed yet? you said the AI haad problems...I think.

And besides the mod just crashes when you load it, it can't find some image. :P

Nah the mother land will always been unstable to an AI cause the fact that the main base is mobile and gathers resources for itself and it shouldn't crash and its not really low quality , some of the animations are very complex , but i will give you that the textures could use a vast improvement , but if you think you could do better in a month go for it :P

THe animations don't look very complex, and how fast you did the mod doesn't matter at all to me(as long as you complete it before you die :P), what really matters is the quality, now are you going to improve the quality and fix the crash?

I thought the animations were okay. As Fluffy said its the textures that could really use some work. The xml's are great and push vanilla Glest to do new things i.e. placable mines, mobile harvesters.
I would love to help reskin some of the models but I'm just too busy at the moment :-X
One suggestion is to port to MegaGlest and use Titi's smoke particles for the harvester. The original animation is a good attempt but now that particles are available they should be used instead.
Kudos to you Fluffy for releasing a three faction total conversion for Glest. That is an insane amount of work! Anyone complaining about this mod should come up with something better themselves or shut up.

Well, I've examined them in the G3D viewer, how am I going to get any closer. :P
In all the walking motions, you have a half walk and then a twitch, maybe you want to fix that. :-\

yea i mean some animations are ok , but some are complex such as the AT gun for the coalition , but yes the textures are extremely bad lol , they are more of a place holder and thanks for offering wciow. I saw that wciow , but i'm not sure if i want to port it to megaglest or to GAE , is there going to be a merger cause i have things i like in both? and yea i know about the twitch lol , sometimes when i export my animations it cuts them in half , but this wasnt a huge problem for me to tackle first ;D

I don't think MegaGlest is going to merge with GAE, but they seem to be trading features, I would recommend a Glest/MegaGlest, and then a separate GAE release. ;)

First thing would be to fix the name. "Animal Cruelity", is a bad name and besides, that's not how you spell 'cruelty'(come on, aren't you 18, you can do better than that). :P
I would call it Animal Wars.

lmfao i missed my spell checking class , but i made it that name for humility , like a joke and i like the faction the way it is cause it adds a different approach to the game , it works well if played by a human , but the AI isn't smart enough to keep it stable

A Human can play any faction, what really matters is that the AI can play it, so that needs to be fixed.

oh don't get me wrong its an easy fix , i mean the simplest thing in the world , but i like it this way and it took a good conception to make it that way and yea i know lol i'll wait for the next update to fix it ;D

Regardless of the AI problem, the Motherland still has a huge disadvantage because they can't build harvesters nearly as fast as the rabbits (Coalition, I think?). It's an interesting concept, and kudos for trying a different approach, but it just doesn't seem to be the way to go. Plus, I don't think it can harvest while producing units, which also sucks.
You still need to fix the name, this mod has nothing to do with animal cruelty. :P
Yeah it does. Animals are being cruel to each other. :P

Well.........John your right it does have something to do with Animal Cruelty, but it isn't really cruelty.......it's war, I mean if this is Animal cruelty..........then an animal has to commit animal cruelty if it wants to survive. :P

I've noticed this and while it can't produce while harvesting , i think i've found a way around this and to make it balanced with the coalition , btw all the feed back you can give will help out alot ;)

xml's don't read capital letters anyways it would make mine crash , so how about you get a linux version up cause i've never used linux i could give you all the xml's or whatever you need for it :D

Just make a 7z of this mod with everything in lowercase, no capital letters in the XMLs they will crash on Linux, and no they will no crash on Windows. :P

It was pretty good, models were kind of small and the aeroplane's anim was strange but all in all I liked it. :)

I found mines! Try using a fork of Glest though when you update this...or at least Glest 3.22. Also, you should upload a version of this mod without the game files and everything. One more thing, make sure you setup the installer correctly. You listed Fluffy203 as the default folder in the Program Files for the installer. Also, you should use PNG for the textures for the mod as it will save space and quality...Thanks!

This mod looks awesome. I'm glad it wasn't lost... I might try to back-up a few of the older mods, as I just bought a new shiny hard-drive to fill.
But we probably need a central download site where we can put them all.

About backing up, I think we'll have (maybe) "multiple" sources for that in the future in Glest 4.01...but for now I suppose people could just use dropbox accounts.

Yeah, dropbox is awesome. The fellas who work on Constellus and I use dropbox, and I can't imagine my glest-life without it. There should be a thread about it in the tools section.

Yeah, I think I'm going to create a thread about it. Dropbox isn't the only one...it might be the one with the most features/best reliability, but there are others. Specifically the others have more space. :P

You sir are awesome , yea i totally fubured the mod up, for instance i created its own installer that was dumb rofl , texture files i'm positive are 512x512 which is ridiculous , animations could've been better and didn't polish the textures , didnt spend alot of time polishing , just wanted to pump out factions/units took me a month or so to create the whole thing lol , but since noone had it and i really really missed it , i've been spending time on a remake , looks about 100x better , being very well polished , but i still appreciate you finding this for me and now i'm deff backing it up and thanks again :thumbup:
