Ok there were three different approaches i had to take on this. One make the Orcs savages like you see most of the time. Two make them Human like in that they have great Armor like knights and some sort of walls. Lastly the one that would shock everyone , make them more intelligent than most would assume like high elves. After much thinking i decided that i would make them Tribal with a close relation to nature , not savages don't get me wrong though they will be Brutish. Having them so close to nature also allows me to bring in some beast that i think would be fun to play with.
***Tech Tree*** ( not visual will make later not that important )
(7) Buildings:
Stronghold (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=10wus2e&s=5) :The most defensive structure the orcs have since it is their home. This structure produces Chums.(produces Chums)
Outpost: Has a great sight , little defense , health and attack. This is more used for a warning.(scout/defense building)
Shaman Tent/Laboratory (haven't decided yet , which do you guys like?): This building allows the user to get upgrades for the Orcs and also allows production of Shaman's.(Upgrades and produces Shaman)
Proving Grounds: This is the perfect tribal warfare training your people will need.( Produces Pathfinder,Tamer,Axeman, and Guardian)
The Pit: Allows you to harness your faithful beast counter parts.( Produces Tri-raptor , Rino and Bulf)
Walf Post: The Walf come to the call of the Orcs to take care of them from the air. ( Produces Walf and Walf Rider )
Warbanner: This banner symbolizes unity which gives you more Orcs to fight for you. ( Used as a Pop Cap/ Resource )
(15) Units:
Chum: Bigger than Orcs , the Orcs have trained them to work for them as long as they have have a master. (Worker)
WarChum: Fit with armor and released by its master this beast is not to be messed with.(Upgraded Worker meant for combat adv. Infantry)
PathFinder: Quick , light , and equipped with a spear they may not have armor , but they will track you down with their impressive sight (Scout)
Hunter: Upgraded version of the PathFinder uses his spear as a javelin to take his appoint down with range and quickness (Adv. Scout/ Ranger )
Tamer : Can either summon beasts or command one , either way he will leave you with an impression of his whip (Support Unit / close/med range attack)
Axeman : Basic Orc soldier equipped with an axe and knows how to use it . (Basic infantry close range)
Bezerker: Advanced version of the Axeman , he will wield a 2-handed Axe of death. (Adv. infantry close range with splash)
Guardian: Elite infantry equipped with armor and a 2-handed Warhammer.(Elite infantry close range with splash and Armor)
Tri-raptor: Savage animal killers , these beast are vicious , easily killed , but are cheap and can swarm your armies before you know it.(Basic beast / Scout )
Walf: These flying beast own the sky deat to rights no questions here. (Killer Anti-Air)
Walf Rider: The mount process takes down the quick and beast capabilities of the Walf , but adds the ability for the Hunter riding the Walf to attack the ground. ( Air/Ground attacker )
Rino: Can take anything head on , nough said ( Siege unit / Tank )
Bulf: This mammoth of a creature is the best the Orcs have to offer. ( Siege unit with a surprise )
Shaman: This mystic being can heal and damage opponents with the elements/ ( Healer / damage )
(5) Upgrades:
Chum Savage: Allows you to morph Chums into war machines. ( Morph for Chum unlocked )
Companionship: You can now build The Pit and Make Tamers. ( Unlocks The Pit and Tamer )
Beast Mastery: Allows you to produce Walf Riders , Rinos and Bulfs. ( Unlocks Walf Riders , Rinos and Bulfs )
Leather working: Gives the infantry some form of armor. ( Adds very low armor to all units possibly 5 )
Heavy Armor Rigging: Adds armor to all the beast (hopefully with visual changes ) and also needed to for the guardian upgrade.(Armor to all beast and unlocks guardian )
Guardians: Unlocks the Guardian unit for the Orcs. ( The elite troops are now unlocked )

good i got one person ;D so far , but this will take a couple of months , but i guarantee it will look the best of my abilities , so its a challenge and a pleasure , well if people want to see it done anyway

I heard that Wciow was working on an orc mod a while ago, but lost motivation, and he's been looking for a new project, so maybe the two of you could team up and finish off what he started. 8)

That sounds like a splendid idea , I'll see what he has done. For now though i will just make the faction my own with some help from you guys. The ones that want to put their feedback into it that is. :)

Yes this is true.
I got annoyed and stopped working on Orcs after I lost a texture that I had spent many hours working on over several days :'(

Pretty cool so far, but the leather/cloth texture could use some more variation. Maybe some HSV noise would help? Also, since these are orcs, maybe it should look more tattered.

It does have variation you just can't see it from that angle , it has a leather texture with the bumps in it didn't want it too bumpy it would look horrible , with some vines growing on the sides dirt at the bottom from where it is touching the ground and splashes of dirt amongst its sides and its going to have fire/smoke at the top.

I don't think Orcs would have a stronghold....
More like a Warlord's Tent or something like that, I can help with the 3D stuff, not texturing though, what's next?
PS: You need a Grunt unit, just an Orc with a blade like the Orcs in LoTR use...

I am excited to see the outcome of fluffy and wciow's tagteam modding.
I was excited to see a screenshot up already for the stronghold! I sorta have to agree with John about the texture.
I was thoroughly impressed by wciow's tent/shelter model. It has a pretty nifty texture.

I will agree wciow's tent is pretty sweet , i'll try to improve on it. Yea the name is debatable , but deff not warlord's tent , like i said they aren't savages . I could use an orc model , bigger than the avg human , more muscular and more along the lines of a axe and a wooden shield. so the Axeman

I'm gonna start work on the unit models (in the order given in the first post). Any concept art to show what people think the chum should look like is appreciated :thumbup:

i use 3ds max , but i'll convert it to a . obj just for you wciow (don't worry if you are thinking its high poly its not , i'm good at modeling this took less than an 10 mins) , but let me know if i should put more work into it) and that works for me , the chum its going to be bigger than the orc's themselves it should have a chain around its neck , which will be held by an orc , like a leash , but the best concept art i have is this pic1 (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/3E_Orcs.jpg) and pic2 (http://www.iwozhere.com/SRD/images/MM35_PG203.jpg) , but blend them with pic3 (http://kalaalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/painting-ape-thing-7-details.png) to make like a primitive species , follow me?

Ive already planned an orc tech tree for my mod , it's not 100% but I needed some time to figure it out.Can i write the my raw tech tree here ? ;D ;D
I watched out the tech tree of this post and i think its good , and looks like LotR style orcs ;D

yea post it i'd be glad to see someone else's opinion of the orcs and might incorporate some of it , if you want you can help with the mod thats always welcome :D

Well i really need someone who can i collaborate with but .....umm i have an own story too and conception ......
In nutshell - i think its the word for it -
they focus on attack , their health is also great but they have the disadvantage of weak economy and lower armor
BUILDINGS
Thornhold:Begining structure , 3 levels , It can train peons
Camp:Provides food
Warcamp:Trains infantry units
Furnace:Basic upgrades such as weapon and armor
Warg pit: some types of warg riders come here , lvl 2 thornhold required
Altar of spirits : Spellcasters made here , also provides upgrades too , lvl 2 thornhold required
Thundering Aviary:the final units come here , The mighty Stormeagles , lvl 3 thornhold required
Spire: basic defense tower , only thornhold lvl 1 req.
Thunderspike: upgrated from spire , its shocks the enemy with lightning , req, altar of spirits
UNITS
Peon - builder
Reaver - Basic infanty , high attack power , equipped with an axe
Bowman - Ranged infantry , as the usual its damage s high but its healt is medium
Warg rider - basic cavarly
Warg demolisher - equipped with mace and shield he is perfect for razing towers and defenses
Stormcaller - - very- offensive spellcster with low health
Tidemender - supporting unit , with defensive aura and low heal
Stormeagle - as the final unit its extreme powerfull at the cost of expensiveness and low armour
UPGRADES
Razor blades - meele attack increasing
Plate armors - armor increasing
spiritual rage - caster damage increasing
spiritual endurance - EP increasing
Taming the Lightning - enables Thunderspike
Well remember its raw , ive very not finished it , and all of it are my hard-worked-out ideas ;D
Also there are some ( about 4-5 ) units ive dont write down because they are not thinked out yet , and there will be at least 7-8 more upgrades ( or more i really love 'em :D ) and 2-3 buildngs - supporting or upgrade -

That seems like a great tech tree for the orcs , its pulling more from the LOTR orcs , but hey that is your way of looking at it and it looks good nothing wrong with it and personally i saw somethings i would've liked in mine , but hey it will be good to see what you can do with it :D :thumbup:

Are you saying there should be TWO Orcs factions? Yours and another one from GGeri?... :-\

Why not? i like the idea... and if they have some buildings/units/upgrades in common, well, heres my idea:
The Royal Orcs, They fight for their master lord, who hunger for power og Glestiania...Some other orcs... the Rebellions, sees the nature and want to keep it the way it is, while the royals want to burn everything down and create a new orc empire...
Royals Vs Rebellions
Royals: Focus on Melee and range
Rebellions: Focus on resources(so they will have more resources, but their units suck) and magic...

It will be good to see 2 viewpoint of orcs ;D , mine are based on warcraft orcs but dont afraid ill make them unique :D
Also i forget to say : I'll bring my orcs out with the high elves because of it it will counting for some time to make 'em so EVERY LITTLE HELP welcomed :D:D

the best you can make and keep it under 1k for sure , but other than that 512 or 256 texture , if you are going to texture it , just have fun with it ;)

i tried the pathfinder, its anmated but you see, texture is still ugly;

It will be less original if you use stronghold as the Dwarf faction used that name first. Still, that is your problem. :P

Green orcs look a bit ridiculous, don't you think? Go paint yourself bright green and see how silly it looks. (For the Pathfinder it makes sense, since maybe he paints himself green for camouflage. ;D)

Green orcs are the traditional ones though, and glest as far as i know doesn`t have any hide system built in.
BTW, we should reeely use normal maps and bump maps and bake them.

Green orcs are the traditional ones though
Traditional? I wouldn't say that. They're not green in any of Tolkien's works as far as I know, and they're grayish in most D&D settings. It's mostly just Warcraft and Warhammer (i.e. much more recently) where they're cartoonish and green.

I agree with John, I think greyish is the best color for orcs. :thumbup:

some combo of greeen and grey then... but they had much off dirt on them, or was it Uruk-Hai?

Yeah, I think the Uruk-Hai were darker, pro'lly 'cause of the dirt or ... some kind of dirt... :look: mud? ::)
EDIT: the orc on the second video you posted certainly isn't greenish...
Still, fluffly likes 'em green so I guess that's what you'll get... :P
Go ahead fluffy and get us some of them green orcs to kill! ;D

nah these orcs are more of a tribe not civilized/industrial , plus not a big fan of LOTR orcs , no offense to anyone here
