WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A GLEST MODERATOR?
Like whats the requires? What do you have to do ::)? How can you BECOME A GLEST MODERATOR? :o
-
Uh, don't ask for one, and two, you have to be somewhat trusted, three, you have to have been on the forums a little while and have a good post count...
I got promoted because of my post count, but I think I'm trusted here. :)

I'm pretty sure you got promoted because you're on the forum the most and can therefor react to spam more quickly than anybody else. :P

WEll, Omega said I got promoted because of my post count....so......I think I'm going to trust what he said, because he promoted me. ::)
Don't tell me I don't have a level of trust around here........ :look:

If you have a good reputation(maybe) (I think we all do)
If lots of other people recommend you (then again probably not ::))
If the Admins like you/just choose you.
Like maybe you would be a moderator if we had a contributions thread... ::) :bomb:
------------------------
Yeah because of your post count. no offense meant. ::) :O  :bomb:
-
Well I think you need atleast 1k Post just like titi :)
-
Post count. chh. ::)
Whatever. If it is based on that, well... ::)
-
I wouldn't mind being a moderator :O :O :O
-
Who would. :)

Why the heck does everyone always want mod? It's more work - not more power! Do you go to work and say "Give me a harder job BUT don't pay me any more!" I understand volunteering and all, but people need to PROVE that they are responsible members of the community to earn mod status. Ever modding ability isn't sufficient! Read about the Peter Principle if you're curious...
And POST COUNT!? Are you serious? Sure, lets just promote the next spambot that comes through, I'm sure they've got the appropriate experience for the job. Bleh.
I'm going to stop here because I'm a little upset at the moment.

Basically everything that you said is true, cept it doesn't apply to this forum much... ::) (besides about proving that (whoever) is responsible enough. )
Especially since there isn't much to do, for this forum as being a moderator... I mean there is, but the current moderators don't do much as a moderator ::)
For Post Count, we were basically only talking about archmage, which actually got to be a mod because of his...
I wouldn't mind being a moderator :O :O :O
Earn it. :O
Or not. ::)
-
I don't think we really need any more moderation right now. The current task force seems to have things under control.
-
YAh, come on guys, and for your information, I never asked to be a moderator, Omega picked me.
But I enjoy the job! Crushing SPAM-Bots seems to be my line of work. :O

The moderator rank gives you higher, power, and it looks good. Just think about the Law of changing (or what the heck, I don't know how should it translated properly :P ): you should never accept your position, always aim to get higher!
About the post count: yeah, being promoted by post count is simply ridiculous. I wonder which spambot should we choose ;)
-
If you haven't noticed, all the top ten posters(me at the top--YAY!) aren't SPAM-bots. ::)
SPAM-bots usually don't even post at all. :P
-
still I wouldn't mind being a moderator. :O
-
It's Omega's and Titi's decision to make. :P
-
Well...we don't really need any more moderators...
until
a) more/we have new boards
b) more people/more reckless people/ more....more...
::)
still I wouldn't mind being a moderator. :O
Earn it.

::) ::) ::)
1. Board moderator gives you more power yes.
It gives you even more responsibility. (e.g. if I flame someone, I'm just a prick, if a moderator flames someone... he's condemning the whole board to be a flame-camp... :P)
2. "Get a better position at job" analogies are meaningless if you don't actually get any money back for it. Actually... that pretty much is the "sucker" definition: "Yeah, he's my boss but I earn twice as much as him!" :O
3. I don't believe anyone in his own sane mind would make someone a moderator just on the acount of post-counts! Geeeez... :P
4. A forum moderator needs first and foremost: TO BE NEEDED! You may be just "as good" as the moderator, if there's no need for yet another one you won't be made a moderator. :P
5. My personal view: people who want to be moderators just (or mainly) for the status should NOT be moderators!
In brief: moderators anywhere do a job that needs to be done. They are chosen to be moderators because they are deemed capable of performing that job AND because they accept to do it! The fact that one person was nominated moderator does not mean someone who wasn't couldn't do just as good a job. Those who have been made moderators and have accepted the responsability should be respected in their position.
STOP WHINING ABOUT WANTING TO BE A MODERATOR! :p
-
There's a post that I can fully agree with, although remember Omega told me he promoted me because of my post count, he obviously knew I wasn't a bot, and I'm pretty sure I can be trusted. ::)
-
Well, your post count does say something about:
- how long have you been around (i.e. how experienced you are with the issues and origins of this board).
- how active you are.
And I guess those things did matter in making you a moderator.
Hey, imagine there was someone just exactly like you in every possible way, coming to the forum right now. Only, he arrived so recently he didn't even make 1 post yet!
What do we know of that guy? Nothing. So why would he be made a moderator...? :P
-
Okay, to be clear:
What does it takes to become a glest moderator?
Nothing that can be counted by numbers. Moderatorship is not such a thing, that you can ask access for. It's not based about your number of posts, neither by how long time ago you are on the forum. Administrators will ask you to be a moderator. If they see your abilities good for being a mod.
(I would most likely lock this topic, but since we now have off topic board... people can waste their time on these unnecessary topics :) )
-
yes lock it. (http://glest.org/glest_board/Themes/default/images/icons/quick_lock.gif)

Don't tell me I don't have a level of trust around here........ :look:
No, I promoted you because you are on a lot and can (hopefully) do a good job. I hope I made the right decision... ;D
-
You made a good choice..............IMHO..... ;D :O
-
You made a good choice..............IMHO..... ;D :O
I'm not positive that that "H" belongs. ;)

Honest?
Hungry?
Humble?
Hellish?
Pick a word.
:)
-
It means humble.
That's the point. :O
