First Beta is done but only the mod not the menu of anything else yet....

I'm helpin him on some of the anims, I did all the gatherers anims, everything else was done by Tiger, I also modified the overall mushroom model, although no one will ever see what I improved it from, not much modification though.......

They're great! Cute! And serious too (as in high quality almost real-life like - erm, yes, I do realize mushrooms don't move... :P )!
Yeah, the military units' animations are a bit simpler now you mention it. But they still look very very very good and interesting! I love it! ;D

An interesting fact that you might want to incorporate in your mod:
There is a kind of ant (only one AFAIK) that gathers plants NOT so they can eat them but so those plants can serve as a base for fungi to grow on! And it's the fungi the ants actually eat! ;)

It was just something that popped in my mind as that little "story" incorporates all three planned factions: bugs, plants and mushrooms. That's all. :P

No, have you seen any of his models? I have only seen modified sword-men.

The dwarf goat is Archmage's. ;)
(I just fixed a couple glitches)
And I thought at least some of the Fantasy Romans were made by him?
And speaking of the fantasy swordman, he also did the other one Little Helper asked him (an axeman I think), the "guy and cart" thing (ok, the "guy" is just a tech worker but I'd say the car is a model, no?)
Getting back on the dwarves, after I edited the flame team crew members and hose positions to correctly fit a 2x2 size, Archmage did a very good job at making the hose look good again.
He also said he edited the mushrooms in this very mod.
I dunno. I'm not keeping track of what Archmage modelled but I'd say he did at least do some good edits. And if you can do a good edit of a model, you can probably do a good model from scratch too - you pretty much need to be able to see the whole thing in your mind (as for a model from scratch) to do a good edit, I think.
Heck, I believe Arch can model (I've seen some of his work and though I'm not sure whether he did them from scratch or not, I believe it doesn't really make much of a difference).
If you guys think differently, well... good for you, I guess! Maybe you're right, I dunno... :-\

The blend's got some seams marked but it's still now unwrapped - I was still looking at where to start from, would probably have gone for "Unwrap (smart projections)" myself.

Sorry for the OT, but I've never changed from the standard SMF blue color scheme and it works great for me. Custom schemes are, meh, not that important to me.

OK, here's the new video, I was trying to lead the CPU's units into the other CPU so...but because of the kinda bad placement, of the resources...I kinda failed. ::) (mushroom v2)

Bugs are A no way. They are to hard to think of units for.
The old version of bugs were basicly Aliens They were all made up and had strange names.....
so I might make lawn maintenance faction but Not for a while though... ::)
But If I make a good blender video I`ll post it. ;)

i just played both factions, and i think that i like the plants.
but i have some ideas that you might like:
a garden instead of a burrow, it seems better that way
and i dont know how to implement this, but you need a sunflower somewhere, a plants faction would not be complete without sunflowers!
EDIT: also, i love the googly eyes, if you remove anything, dont remove those

I like the Googly eyes in this mod makes it have that cartoony feel that makes it playable and no it won't if you do remove or edit the post you will be abusing your power since we are talking about the mod and thus have the subject in mind.

OK, finished downloading, but next time could you please ONLY include the MOD, not all your FILES...
It could have been like around 1/2 of the file size...and 1/2 of the time extracting... I mean it is not too big now, but if you do this for everything it is kinda bad and annoying... Anyways, I guess I will test it now...or later.
EDIT: OK, I compressed ONLY the MOD files, and it came up to a 23.6 MB .7z...

My feedback:
1. on the package:
- Looks like you just packaged your whole megaglest folder, didn't you?... :P
We don't need that! :P
All you need to pack is the techs/nature_wars folder and eventually whatever you might have done and put in the maps, tilesets and scenarios specifially for this mod.
- I did look in the maps folder. There was this land_of_plenty.gbm map which should be land_of_plenty.mgm instead. It's a MG specific map and the .gbm extension is for standard Glest maps; using that map in vanilla Glest or GAE will indeed crash them. ::) Renaming the extension solves it. ;)
2. on the mod itself:
- Very cool overall, fun to watch and play. ;) :thumbup:
- Many units have no teamcolor added. Would be nice to have teamcolor on every unit.
- Also, I played one game with the mushrooms against one CPU plant_life. There are several different mushrooms but many of them look much alike. If you're going to add teamcolor to those that don't have it yet, you might also add some differences to the textures too (the fire mushroom and poison mushroom seem to actually use the very same models).
- Plant life doesn't seem to have many different units or maybe they all just look too much alike too?... :look:
- In spite of that, the units and buildings themselves have a very good polished look. The buttons however look a bit lame/childish. :look:
But overall it's a very fun mod! 8) :thumbup:

I have an idea for a new faction, loggers, you, know people that chop down trees, it would sort of fit with the current theme and they could have buzzsaws, machines etc

its good, but the corn needs an actual particle effect (i assume its going to be a corn kernel). and, the units need more distinction; all the attacks were nearly the same.

ive tested it out, and it rocks! i only have a few concerns:
the sound that the weeds make when doing stuff is super annoying!
when it comes to the vegies, there isnt much distinction. which is better, the radish or the tomato? they should be put into more dedicated roles.
the garden could use some more buff techs, there are two so far. the rest are to unlock other units.
the attack sound of the bees is annoying too, could you change it?
The mushrooms still use the Magic energy pot thing, it doesnt fit too well with the theme.
that is it. keep making awesome mods!

OK, I tried it. It was fun... (kinda confusing though, or just new...) but it seems Garden had bad AI...maybe plant life too...or maybe just "bad luck"?

i noticed that the garden is the only faction with any "heavy-hitters." (the hoe and mower) i think this makes them a tad unbalanced. i mean, the there are no big guys for the other two factions. Will this be changed?

i think the mower should be more powerful than the hoe, so you should make the Tools upgrade a requisite for the mower and not the hoe.

i personally think that each of the three factions should have two unique units - units that have no corresponding units (obviously).
what i'm thinking:
Plants - the healer (fern) and cavalry (pine needle)
Garden - the scout (ant) and a special harvester unit (something that is specially dedicated to harvesting resources, maybe a rake or something)
Mushrooms - a super heavy hitter and a dedicated anti-air unit
this would make the factions a bit more diverse.

k, i played a match with ultifd, and we found some problems:
1. the teamcoloring on some units is horrible or nonexistent. i.e. all of the plant and garden units.
2. the venus fly trap needs to look more like a venus fly trap...sadly it's not believable
3. yes, the fern is a healer, but it doesnt heal all units (such as the ever-important ivy)
4. the AI sucks...that needs work.
5. ive found a few typos, would you like me to fix those for you?

youve probably gotten tired of my input, but "oh, well!"
i love the new units! they are really cool!
but, some things i found:
The leaves cannot repair the mud hole, and that is bad.
the rake should be able to harvest all resources (it is a super harvester), or at least speed up the harvesting process a bit.
i had imagined the anti-air shroom as a unit, but i think i like this better!
i would suggest that the mower be the garden's heaviest unit, by it's very nature, it should.
that is all, keep up the good work!

hey, do you think that you could work on team color? you said no before, but ive realized how important it is. if you dont want to make their eyes teamcolored, maybe you might be more willing to add some light coloration to their veins.

Have you considered giving the mushrooms a new unit called fungus, it would be very cheap and weak but capable of cloning itself, just a suggestion.

Plant life needs sunlight, but I can't think of a way to make sunlight work as a resource. Might be an interesting challenge for you?

-Gold
-Branches
-Leaves
-Energy

There Already Is A fungus in mushrooms.
But Thats A good Idea Cloning Its self!
