The red arrow is where the camera points from by default, see that no mater how big the unit it only shows 1 square of splashing. At the top left.

yes :).
its just an image that is
played back (Mega-Glest\data\core\misc_textures\water_splash.tga ) resize is already needed to do this, so its maybe simple to fix.
Will try not to forget to look into it ;D

ok checked in a change, please try it.
Its always not really good positioned, but bigger now for bigger units.

The splashes need to come from the middle, not the top left corner.

Will look into it , but I fear the center calculation will effect some more things, so its maybe a bit tricky.
( by the way, in which vbros pack I can test this ship ?)

The new vbro's pack 1 I released has the scenario, It is called "battle_of_the_sea".

Wouldn't it look better to have it be the same size as it normally is, but have the water splashes generate from random positions within the size range of the unit? It would certainly look less stretched, at least.
