So I downloaded the latest Glest, and the game loads fine, good visuals, high speeds, and I cant wait to dive into the XML files, but one problem, whenever I try to create a new game it gives me the #10013 Socket Error, which after looking through this entire sub-forum, there seems to be no working fix apart from forwarding ports and allowing with Firewall and whatnot.
Well I'm sorry, none of these work.
I'd like someone to actually take there time to help me fix this, and not just tell me to portforward - I've done that, it doesn't work.

Well, what I usually do when I have this problem, is I just restart my computer...that usually fixes it for me... ::)
Original Glest? or GAE, or megaglest? then again, I guess it does not really matter... ::)
But I just restart, restart, and restart my comp, then it is ok... ::)
Good Luck, :)

We need full details before we can help you.
#1. Operating System and version
#2. Which version of the game (and which fork: glest, gae or mega-glest)
#3. Was this a local network game or internet game or neither?
-
1. I use the operating system is vista 32bit
2. I am using version 3.3.4.3 glest
3. I have been LAN and Internet play against.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: Latest, Tried for Glest, GAE and MegaGlest, but to no avail.
I tried all, Internet and single player, LAN was impossible because theres no option for it.

Did you try to restart your computer? That 99% of the time usually works for me... ::)
I had this problem before, on windows vista 32 bit, then I upgraded, so on windows 7 32 bit too...now it has been a long time, since I had this problem, and if I do...I just restart... ::)
And this is on glest, megaglest, and GAE... :|
3.It apples to every single type of game...I remember.

Nope, I've tried Rebooting, Reinstalling, Re-forwarding... Nothing.

Hmm...every "type" of glest? wow... :(
Any firewall or antivirus running? Try disabling it I guess...
God...if you google this, there isn't even really a solution :(

I've made an exeption for the programs and the ports on windows firewall... I'll try totally disabling them now..
Update: I had to disable my firewall, which had an exception already :/ And my antivirus too.. But it works now.
thanks for the help.
