Im about to release the first (i think) chess version of glest, it is not chess gameplay but chess units! i got inspiration when i was playing chess against arch [:o i almost had him! we made some fatal errors both :P]

Here is some pictures, the mod will only be balanced with itself.
Im (unfortunately for those with little VRAM) going to release this mod with extreme texture sizes, it is mostly to test how far can i push glest. Then again, there are nearly no animation needed, i hope this balances things out for those with a old computer.

But, could you embed them in "thumbnail format"? It would be better for the thread... ::) :thumbup:
I have a question...if this is a mod...it can't really be played in chess format right...or are you making this in "glest format"... :|

should i include a chess tileset too? shouldn`t be too hard...white and black spots..

I know what you should do, you should learn to EDIT your posts... ::) But I'm pretty sure you already know that... ::)
Anyways, you could, but after you finish the actual Mod.
Also, in the tileset, you still need objects, so for resources and other objects, you would need to think of...items to...well I don't know, can't think of anything. :|
Also, I think you should edit the title of this topic to "Chess Mod"...because just saying "Chess" sounds like an OT title...in the OT section... ::) Unless you are too lazy...or something else...you don't want to? :|

Looks OK, I think arch made a tech like this a wile back.
The castle and the horse need a bit more work but its looking good so far. :thumbup:

:) I just modeled after a script, and im not completely finished, but this tech isn`t reaaly hard to do ;)

Im confused...whne i replace the tower in tech with my blender castle model, nothing shows up! I made sure to rename and everything, the unit still got the same name, the only thing i did was to put in my chess castle model and rename that model only.

You did make the apropriate changes in <unit>.xml, right?... :look:

Anyway, if I understand your intentions well, you will only create chess figures as units (you don't have to animate it :silence: ), and not a whole new faction.
The models are too low poly right now, and they could have a bit more colours (shadow would be the best, but that depends on the engine itself :) )

::) You did select the bloody object in Blender before exporting, right? :look:
If not, I'll seriously advise you to take a break from your coffee break. :P
BTW, a standard 33cl Coca-Cola has much more cafeine in it than a cup of espresso... :o
