ok, i got this idea from this other Freesource RTS (www.imperialwinter.com).
essentially, it means that units can only fire upon enemies that are visible, whether in their sight or another's. this would allow for artillery spotters (guys who see the battlefield so that artillery can stay in the back, for commanders who can see farther than their men (thus giving them more to shoot at).
this means that the range of a unit could be larger than his sight, but he wont attack dudes unless they are in someone's LOS.

Not many units have that much range, but if you had some kind of boss, it would makes sense.
-
i mean, i think that ranged units should have ranges beyond their sights, it would make more sense.
-
Right now they attack even if they don't see.
-
yeah, i know, i wish they didnt.

An example is the tech mk2 arbalestier, just felt like mentioning this and I think it would be nice to have such a thing implemented, maybe have a scout or binocular equipped unit with massive sight.

Whoa. You have the mod with the crossbowman? Where?
