Title: 2vs2 and 3vs3 maps needed

There are typically playing 2 or 3 players and we mostly play coop games.  
Something that is often missed when playing multiplayer games are good new maps.

We typicall always play the map Conflict when we want to play 2 versus 2 and the map six_swamp_of_sorrow when we want to play 3vs3 .
We need some more maps like these!

What's so fun about those two maps?
- If one of us gets attacked we can help each other, because the partners starting points are not too far away from each other
- you have enough ressources to start and enough place to build, but you are forced to seddle/expand after a while to get more gold...
- there are interisting other places to expand with all needed ressources and the CPU player also starts to expand on these maps!

This is so fun to play and we often see epic battles on these two maps in multiplayer. I want some more maps like these!
Maybe they already exist and I just missed them? Please contribute some more maps!

( we already have tons of maps which are typical designed for 4 player and single player! What we need are those who are meant for multiplayer where typically two teams fight each other! )

@Wciow cool I'll try out that map sometime.

Hmm, I think 2 vs 2 maps aren't needed that much, since you can always "substitute"/ there are always some good maps that are just not included in MG...
But 3 vs 3, we need... maybe titi could also create a 6 vs 2 megas map? would be cool.

Redistributed and reduced the overall quantity of start location resource nodes
1) resource nodes are placed closer to the storage buildings thus reducing the overall worker harvesting cycle times -  allowing players to quickly ramp up technology and defend against early AI rushes.

2) reduce overall resource node allotments in the start locations thus forcing the AI to expand earlier, this prevents the AI from forming early game super-cities and armies.

Thanks a lot Trappin! This was fun to play! But we didn't saw very much of the map, we were always in defense and struggling for gold, but in the end we won! Maybe 1 more gold for the players on the sides. 2 gold pieces are too little.3 might work, because extension point is very near.

And here is a new version of tropical2v2 for multiplayer.
Should work for 2vs2, 3vs3 and 4vs4 !

How come for the coop6 big river map, the down right side of people are a bit farther away of the resources than player 1, 2, and 3...
Now, I bet this map would interesting for 3 vs 3 all human games.  :scientist: Some people would really have fun...probably.

Having a difficult time getting everything balanced. Its hard enough designing interesting looking maps while keeping the AI from getting stuck in dead ends or next to a pond - now I've gotta account for COOP play styles with an AI on MegaSteroids.

Some people would really have fun...probably.

Yeah...so I tried this map, with 2 vs 2. I guess we would have had a different outcome with 3 people...anyways, we ran out of gold. Couldn't ever get anymore gold...ever. Everytime we tried to expand they came and destroyed us. It was great... In the end I just tried to protect our base with sphinxes and crush them with some Ibises... That half worked, but a ton of dragons came...

Depends...Not the best map that I would have fun on though... But, I guess It's ok for me. This time though, wasn't that fun.

Anyways, I guess I should try to test with 3 vs 3...but nobody else was here today. (IRC).

redrafted this map 10 times and the last 2 games turned into protracted battles of attrition  - so I think this map is finally working properly.

OK, I guess I'll try it...
I played a game with beta4 with titi and tomreyn. It was OK... not that fun, but the map seemed to have no problems. Although, I think blue and white had one more gold rock than the others in beta4.
Hmm, you are still using MG 3.3.6?

What else should he use? Not everyone likes to be a beta tester ;-) .
I played this map 2 times a bit longer now and I very quickly lost 5 times :-P.
Although I tried different versions it was always very fun to play! In beta4 I saw a nother issue with the expanding points. Because they were to close to the starting points the cpu decided not not build a new castle next to the ressources, but to walk over there with workers. By this it was easy to win in the end by killing all his workers with a thunerbird. But this was only one game, maybe It was just this game.

I'm using 3.3.4.3 - are there any AI improvements in newer versions?

Most people dislike maps larger than 128x128 and maps of this size limit the overall potential for expansionist game play. How many tiles away from the starting AI headquarters should the first resource expansion be located to trigger the AI "build headquarters" script? 40 tiles? more? less? I need a specific number for this to work properly.

I've lost 16 or so games on this map, won 4 matches and have played to stalemates a few times - stalemate would be after the AI tries to expand to the second tier resource nodes - at this point I just kill the harvesters and bleed the AI dry of resources.

Hmm...something weird about your map, we always expand to the north of the enemy place, since that is basically a safe spot.

I also always have the same strategy now these days for this map...protect our bases first, expand to the north of the enemy, get air units, and air raid... :-/

I'm using 3.3.4.3 - are there any AI improvements in newer versions?
I think so. I do know 100% there is a big difference in rendering at least...
But wait for 3.3.7... cause I am pretty sure it is going to be released soon...

Can we got a separate thread for trappin's map? Since for about the last 8 posts it has been all about his map and not about 2 vs 2 maps and 3 vs 3 maps...

Not bad, it was kinda fun. The only main problem was no space...crowded.

The trees near yellow player should probably be moved...or all the resources near there in general, because if you are at that spot the trees are kinda blocking the gold, and at first I heard you can't even see your own main building...at first.

Trappin the 4 Player coop map is very big, I played it with tomreyn and I think it would also be fun with 8 players.

We had no problems with this map so far and it was fun, but please give us 8 players :-) .
