Just some general observations -

Great textures on the buildings.... the headquarters is outstanding - awesome styling.

The team colors image on the barracks and catapult unit are far too large.  

The units look pretty darn cool, the animations are fluid and the overall styling pleasing.
Nice work, looking forward to the final version.

I'm inclined to disagree.  I think it's a fine style choice.  To each his own, of course. ;)

Kinda hard to critique this since I don't know what is still WIP and what's done.  The Warrior's attack animation could use a little attention.  He seems to lunge through the target.  The Armoury is multi-selectable, and the Void Stone has wooden armor.  Not sure if either of those are intentional, but I suspect they're not.  I guess you probably did intend for the Balista to have impact damage, but I can't be sure, so I might as well point it out.  Plus, I'm pretty sure it's spelled "Ballista", unless maybe that's a national variation.  The Void Stone also doesn't have any team color.  I'm assuming the attack icons are still WIP.

Some of the units could maybe use some more variety in their textures.  I don't know what rules apply to your undead, but real corpses aren't just solid gray, and adding some open wounds, dried blood, etc., could be good for the horror factor.  Currently pretty much everything is gray: stone buildings, old wooden siege equipment, corpses, and so on.  It might help to have some more "damaged" looking animations, like if one leg drags behind because it's broken.

I have played your new alpha release.
I like your mod's unique design buildings and fluent animations of units.
especially I think the mod's constructing animation of the buildings which rise slowly from the ground is very nice.  :thumbup:
I also like the overall creepy mood of the buildings and the units have.which somehow reminds me the series of novels by great H.P.Lovecraft. :D
but I feel a bit desolate about lack of the sound effects.even if it's an alpha.with sounds,the mod's impression will be awesomely improved.Are you going to prepare all sound effects by yourself? :o

Heh, actually a lot of Glest mods have sounds by the own dev...maybe 50 to 60 percent of the mods. Sometimes they are pretty good though, I mean, I know that for the norsemen faction, titi used his own voice + family and friends...of course I bet he still altered them a bit, but it came out nice...one of the many good examples. But I guess using other sources for sound is ok, as long as credit is given and it has the right license...

I wouldn't actually recommend that yet. It's still a "preview alpha". I say wait till we have a working final release until we have a wiki page, unless you wish to take into aspect the unfinished-ness of the mod...

this mod is most amazing indeed. the buildings look brand new! and how about a closer look to the models eh?  zombies or mummies or skeletons are they?

can you please list us the units. also the looks of their wepons. and upgrades.

The final version of undead will be released sometime before the new year (hopefully), after that I plan on making a GAE only version which is closer to how I imagined the faction to work. I shall be asking questions and documenting as I go.

@Hands

Yeah I have a finished tech tree for the mod. I've added a couple of units from what I originally planned. The whole faction is nearing completion and should be ready before the new year. Once this is completed I will change the XMLs to GAE only tags and add extra emanations and effects and possibly a new unit or two.

Units which will be in the next release are:

Spirit - Worker unit

Warrior - Light meatshield

Crossbowman - Ranged unit

Ballista - Ranged anti-building

Plague Catapult - Ranged anti-infantry

Tomb Guard - Medium melee/anti-air unit

Wight - Healing support caster

Liche Guard - Heavy melee unit

Liche - Powerful caster/summoner

Bat Rider - Air unit

Possible new units for the GAE version include: a large monstrous size 2 unit, an aquatic unit, a transport unit, a burrowing unit or maybe something else.

Really interesting mod but theres one big problem when i played it. The worker units are invisible so the only way i could see them was from the shadows. Some people can not run glest with shadows so they turn shadows off. If they do that there is no way to see the units and no way to use the mod.

Really interesting mod but theres one big problem when i played it. The worker units are invisible so the only way i could see them was from the shadows.

Currently the workers are represented by particles only. Players who turn off particles and shadows will not see them at all.

I will release a simple model which can be used in place of the default invisible one. Changing this one file will allow you to see the workers, but it probably wont be as nice to look at

I like this faction well made, but i have two suggestions:

1) When i click on a worker it doesnt happens anything, i have to click in the space around the worker and this is a little annoying for me because i never remember it and i always click on the worker (in the white part) and nothing happens! Can you make the worker clickable even when you click on it and not only in the space around him?

2) It would be nice to have some flying units like bats or a vulture (picture --> http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0b/Gyps_fulvus_-Oakland_Zoo-8a.jpg/300px-Gyps_fulvus_-Oakland_Zoo-8a.jpg )

A tip for the workers: Make two transparent planes and cross them like an intersection forming a boxish shape so that when you click on the place where the body would be, you select the unit. 8)

Now when they mine or harvest you can't really tell if they are doing it or not so i thought would be nice an animation like these: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5431/30719512.jpg

with this improvement you could tell what and if the workers are working or not. Hope someone will comment my idea :)

This is because the particles for the Liche Guard have an emission rate of 0.3. Just change this to 1 in both particle files and it should work fine  :)

Currently its GAE/MG compatible.

The next release will be GAE only since most units will have some kind of special attack or ability with GAE only tags.

Hmm, its been a while since I made the Undead mod. From what I can remember it is all made by me with just a few photos from burningwell which are Public Domain.

I like to release all of my works as Public Domain. Some mods such as Dwarves contain parts of magitech (mainly sounds) and the last "official" release by Archmage was marked with some CC license, which I don't mind.

I recently looked into helping the Planeshift RPG project and then recoiled in horror when i saw their licensing terms. Basically I get bored by licensing stuff so anything released by me will usually be Public Domain unless it contains someone else work which requires a certain license.

I've tested this mod in last GAE release, it does not work as-is. There are a couple of issues:
- in liche_guard/head_particle.xml and feet_particle.xml, emission-rate is 0.3, and GAE does not support it. I've tried setting it to 1, it works now.
- in necropolis/destruction_models/ruin.tga, texture size is not a power of 2. I've set it to 256x256 (leaving the rest empty), it works now.

I love this mod, so atmospheric especially with Swamp tile set. I think swamp tile set would be cool with some really eerie distant horn sounds instead of the birds at daybreak though.

Yes the link says the file has been removed by the author or by mediafire, is still wciow around?If yes can you upload the mod again? If wciow is not active any more does someone have this mod in his/her pc?It would be good if someone would reupload it. It's a good faction and one of those i would like to see in megapack (together with japanese).

Yes I'm still here, just not posting as often as I used to. I'll dig out my old copy and get someone to host it somewhere more permanent. I might also make a few additions with new mg features (attack boosts, multi animations, etc)  ;)

I'm still working on my storm ravens faction (for about a year) but I don't get as much time to mod as I used to  :'(

ps: if i am not wrong your mod was more GAE oriented right? Now that GAE development seems stopped you could make it more megaglest oriented and upload it on the mod centre :)

It turns out that AI struggle with producing certain units as it produces only a few types :/ Testing and fixing this, is necessary before adding to mod center.

Mod center is not made for beta tests . Mods must be in a quite poolished, play ready state to get added there.
This mod is not "ready" yet.
