Just tested a 6 human and 2 CPU game on our LAN and NO LAG! 3.3.7 performs VERY WELL! This used to lag on my daughters older computer, but no more!

I'm interested in this ability to customize UI. Is there any documentation that explains how you can go about it?

Most items on every screen can have their x,y and width values modified. We read "control names" from glestuser.ini with special properties that over-ride the control default values. To save existing values to your glestuser.ini, go to that screen and press:

F11

This will save the current screen's values to the ini file (so you can edit them). To changes values you DO NOT need to restart the game. Just exit the screen, edit the values in the ini and save the ini, then in the game press

F5

to reload the values from ini. Then revisit the page and see the UI components change.

Custom UI is great just wish you could move the logo as well...
The custom game section has more lag than usual. But that screen was always a bit lagy on my old machine. Maybe has to do with the refresh rate of the faction and map preview?

Well, what's the FPS when you're on the custom game menu, and what graphics card do you have...

Lag on the custom menu can definately be partially due to the faction preview and map preview (both of which can be turned off)

FactionPreview=false
MapPreview=false

These performance problems are the reason why the Map preview can be switched off/on in the ingame options too! No need to edit ini files.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/getdeb.net/+bug/659041 for progress info. There is a 3.3.7 package already, but so far it's only in the lucid (Ubuntu 10.04) getdeb APT repository branch, not in mavericks' (Ubuntu 10.10). Generally, getdeb/playdeb package development is completely autonomous from MegaGlest, so we can not really influence what they provide.

They do offer an option to report packages which an upgraded version is available for, though. And anyone can use this option, including you. Just head to https://launchpad.net/getdeb.net/+filebug and create a new bug report with a subject of '[please update] MegaGlest x.y.z' (where 'x.y.z' is the newly released version number), and report that a new version is available and it the existing MegaGlest packages need upgading. The playdeb people will usually take on it within a few days (at least that's how it was for the last three releases) and they are just volunteers, too (so a few days is actually pretty good response time).

I see v3.3.7 update today from GetDeb for Ubuntu 10.04 , but it's not updatable because depends on megaglest-data v3.3.7 , and only megaglest-data v3.3.6 is available there.

Here on my gentoo linux, megaglest 3.3.7 installed well, but when I call the executable, it asked me first for a LDAP library and then for a Kerberos-relate library.

And then, after install these packages (which I consider a bit strange to be runtime dependencies), the game opened, but failed on the first scenario chosen with this error output:

Quote
Wrong JPEG library version: library is 80, caller expects 62

What can you say?
