Strongly recommended that you upgrade to an LCD. A 17" lcd (optimal size for computers) can be found for around $100 CAD if you look around... You'll save money on power bills on the long run anyway. CRT's simply aren't reliable, and that's probably the root of your problem.

at night.  you cant see anything of course! your keeps and forts will start to lit fires and torches. only your main centers. not all strectures. although its not completley unseen. but it is still hard. i like night. nothing gives you ideas like night. also trying to play under night conditons may improve your skills and eye sharpness. but monitors as regulary hurt eyes. though night is great to menuever your online rivals at... you may become a unique glest warrior by exploiting the night bonuses as your enemies wont see anything while you got learnt the skill of seeieng at night...

if you realy dont want to play hard way. you may ask somebody with more "experience" to help.

cheers ;)

You did not tell us what OS you are using and nothing about your hardware nor the version of glest you are using!  >:(
Just one thing, update your graphics drivers!
