I can start Glest and MegaGlest on my Lenovo W500 running Win 7 with 3 Gig and Dual Care just fine and see the 3D graphics in the background, menu options, animated characters at the about page, etc. However, whenever I attempt to start a game or tutorial in either, the program immediately crashes with no information. This game looks SO promising I hate to give up on it, but I am going nowhere.
Are there know issues with Win 7 perhaps? My laptop has an ATI Radeon card.

I finally found the video card info. (Lenovo made it tricky to pull up the device manager.) it is an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700. The machine has a dual core processor and 3 Gig of RAM. It is a 1680 x 1050 display. I initially tried to run them at the default 1024 x 768 resolution, then with MegaGlest tried the native res and it always crashes when I actually try and run the game.

Hmm... First of all, you may wish to try GAE, it has MUCH improved error reporting (make sure you get the new patch on the latest version that fixes a bug in the PBD, which is a file used for debugging, which would give us exactly the information we need).
Secondly, make sure your graphics driver is up to date. This is the source of the majority of crashes.

Sry for such a noob question. I see that GAE is "Glest Advanced Engine", but where do I download it?

It looks like it has something to do with your driver...

OK. If anyone else wants to know, I can answer my own question. I found a link as the first post in the GAE forum. :)
