Title: Debian Linux: Glest runs, but no fonts appear
Post by: twixter on 5 February 2011, 14:45:01
I have Glest 3.1.2-1+b1 installed as a binary Debian package on my 64 bit Debian Lenny OS. This was installed using Aptitude, not downloaded manually from this site. I get the opening screen and music, and the word "Glest" I can see, but all the other text does not appear. I can click on buttons, and I suppose I could play the game if I knew what the button labels were supposed to be, but no luck so far. I read that I should run Auto config before I play, but I don't know where that menu is. The graphics look good.

My glest.ini file assigns the value -*-*-*-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-* to FontConsole, FontDisplay, and FontMenu. Should I change this value, and if so, to what?

Any clue would be welcome. Thanks for your time.

Maybe try the latest MegaGlest version at PlayDeb (http://www.playdeb.net/updates/ubuntu/10.10/?q=megaglest).

GAE previously used:
FontConsole=Verdana
FontDisplay=Verdana
FontMenu=Verdana

before we switched to FreeType fonts.
