Title: An odd coincedence
Post by: Darth_Sidion on 9 May 2011, 21:22:20
I have these games called RuleTheRail and IronHorses (model railroading) and their maps looks awefully similar to those of Glest. The site for these games is Brainbombers.com, go look and see for yourself.

Is the program to make maps or tilesets the same for all these games? Or, do they just happen to look alike?

Glest uses a very basic(and ugly) tile system, it would be likely that other games like train simulators would have similar looking maps. And the program used to make Glest maps is Glest specific, written by the Glest Team for Glest only.

Oh so it's the tile system that looks alike? Yeah, RuleTheRail and IronHorses are rather simplistic, 3D setups. For a moment, I thought you were using shared technology. This is why I can't wait to go to Devry.

I told you. Though since your game is an RTS, I doubt I'll be playing their game anytime soon. I love trains (hobbyist) but I love strategy a lot more.
