Both was/are commercial games, but due to reasons they are free now.

Yep. If it was "free" in the other way too, that'd be awesome.
Personally I like games that are free in both ways.

I have played ground control. ;D
The game had a good atmosphere. Its music tracks, unit designs, mission briefing etc was very good and they made the game some favorable serious SF mood. I was deep into its campaign game till I reached around 9~10 stages, but as proceeding the campaign, the stages getting longer and harder and I felt somewhat bored, then I abandoned playing the remaining campaign. :O
