How can I make the map editor not crash when making a map large than 450x450? Any larger and it just crashes (Not talking about the game itself, I know it can only use maps that are a power of 2. I'm aiming for 512)

Are you using the MG map editor?
I have made 1024 maps on it.

the GAE map editor actually, didn't even think to try the MG one. I'll do that, thanks :D

Hmm, interesting. While I was able to create a 512x512 map fine in the GAE map editor, creating a 1024x1024 map always crashed the editor for me, too. At any rate, the MegaGlest map editor works well and is more refined than the GAE map editor. No particular reason to use the GAE map editor, since the MegaGlest map editor does everything it can and more. Maps made with the MG map editor are compatible with all engines (although the MGM format only works on MG and GAE; while cliffs and the default camera height values will be ignored in GAE, with the map working, but it'd use walkable, very steep hills instead of cliffs and the regular camera height).

GAE can be buggy, try the MG map editor and see if it works.

Warning: Stop that GAE/MG bashing especially when its completly offtopic like in this case. Can you please remove your posting Eliminator?

His post would probably be better if it was on topic, as I suppose one could consider the GAE map editor to be "buggy" if it crashes...but it doesn't really matter as it is just the map editor. :P
As Omega said, just use the MG map editor since its more refined than the GAE map editor.
