Joel on software is an amazing site. He's not posting very much these days, sadly (only a single post since I last visited in the summer), but take a look at the stuff on the side bar. He's got a lot of great tips for both programmers and aspiring programmers alike.

I could also kiss his feet for co-founding Stackoverflow, which keeps me from tearing all my hair out while trying to do JavaScript stuff.
