We recently changed the icons that show whether or not a board has new, unread posts. Previously, the icons were the "G" of the Glest logo for new posts and a greyed out version of the same for no new posts.
As you can probably see from the main page, the icons have been changed to a swordman's attack icon (the sword) for new posts and the hold position icon (the shield) for no new posts. Is it better? Or is it too unclear of the icons meanings? Should we use a different set of icons (such as the hold position icon; a flag)?
Let us know what you think!

How do we tell if there are unread posts under a section?
-
It might be clearer if you grey out the hold icon a bit. Some people might interpret it as the forum being locked though.
How about just the icon background for read forums?

It was confusing at first but I saw that one forum I was the last post and assumed that icon meant no new posts. Not sure that will work for anyone else?
I get that its a theme thing but its just not very clear.

I merged your separate post into this. I don't understand your question, though.
