Title: Lucy - A kind of fork of Glest written in Java
Post by: las3rlars on 2 August 2015, 16:54:42
I've written a kind of fork of Glest but in Java with improved graphics and mesh based map instead of heightmap.

If you would like you can try it out - If you have graphics issues - please don't hesitate contacting me with your graphic card configuration.

When you create a new game you are also publishing the game on a central server to allow easier joining for your friends.

This is a very early release and important parts are still missing.

Anyway - feedback are much appreciated

Features compared to glest/megaglest:

* Normal maps support
* Team color maps support (Not currently being used in the techtree)
* Emissive map support (Not currently being used in the techtree)
* Big resource types
* Resource can refill itself
* Spell area indicator
* "Beam" spells
* Proper 3d audio

and much much more

Looks good so far, is it going to be free software ?

I think free software is resonable. The code should probably be released as GPL - but it contains assets that are license restricted so they can't really be distributed except for a compiled package.

I actually don't really know what to do with the project :) I don't think its good enough for making any money - but maybe there are stuff in it that are better than glest/megaglest. So not really sure what to do with it. Any suggestions is appreciated!

First of all, I am on a Windows 7 and when I try to start the executable, the game does not start, it just force closed.

Where did you get those sounds? Did you record them yourself? They are equal in quality compared to the MegaGlest sounds.

For now, I don't have any suggestions, but do your best!

Hmmm. Do you have java 8 installed on your computer?

I bought the sounds from unity asset store. So they probably can't be redistributed either.
