I think the passfinder will get mad with this :D

try to make some more direct ways in the big forest.

I don't know what you mean by this.  If you mean the AI's, they can find you if the difficulty is high.  I was experimenting and wanted to make essentially a one way loop.  You can fight the guy clockwise or anti-clockwise (or both) but you can't skip them.

Here is a map for 8.

It is in the shape of a big U separated by water.  4 teams start on one side, 4 on the other.
The base of the U is a tortuous route to get to the other side (AI doesn't seem to be able to navigate it).
However, there is an easily defensible (by land) treasure trove of resources in the base of the U.

Here is a map for 8.  Not a RTS expert, but it seems balanced to me.  It has one wrinkle - it's one dimensional in that you have to work your way through all the opponents sequentially.
