I already removed the MG_ and _nnn in the buttons text (its still there internally though, you could see it on any irc client).
Still have to figure it out how to do it in chat.

I see what you mean,  However, you might perceive my post a little more hostile than it actually is(understandable), Try reading it again. I actually made sure to address the points he made.

Obviously(i hope), It's clear i don't mean to attack people themselves, and if it per definition counts as a personal attack I (condition based), apologise to Jammyjamjamman

Um... I see that my comment caused quite a fuss. :'(

I'm sorry about how my previous comment was written. It is a bit overly-negative and it does not describe my main concern correctly. I also didn't acknowledge that you were creating another channel for players to find us, which is a good idea. That being said, I would have preferred a civilised chat about this.

My main concern is that I reckon having too many chats split new people up and stop people from meeting in a common chat.
Also, my reasoning for Discord not pulling more players is because it's a chat site, not a completely public social networking site. (It is of course possible that my logic is wrong.)

Anyway, if discord pulls in players then awesome!
Also I won't be discussing this further here.

You should never let other people dictate when and what you want t to discuss!

Also: Ish, It is my own opinion and belief that you ** and should not be listened to, i will however keep this opinion to myself moving forward, Your post was unnecessary and only served to tense up an already not so relaxed discussion.

Uhm MegaGlest has ended up with 2x discord channels now... this one and in topic 9880.0.
To be honest, I have to recommend new people come visit people on freenode. It's a bit old hat and insecure when compared to discord (although, security is debatable for proprietary software). But, IRC does the job, so why replace it? ;)

I'm not sure why MegaGlest is not popular, but I don't think a discord channel is going to really help improve its popularity significantly.

Try turning your *** brain on then, Discord is used by millions of everyday users, it's easy to install and easy to get invited to, no weird ip-adresses or anything, stop using your "old habit excuse", it's BS. If you want to get MG popular (which is what is needed for it to grow), the more exposure an open source project get's the more attractive it is to new and fresh developers, Stop pretending IRC is the answer to this. It's not casual user friendly, and your attitude to it is getting really annoying. Please take 5 seconds to read the post and think before replying with a reply we all have heard 1000 times before "herp derp, I've used IRC for so long, and I'm used to it so everybody should use it". Did you consider it's easy for people to share screenshots in it?, To share other discord servers when they have more in common with each other. Your mindset is so closed down and it's *** triggering me.

This is just some of the good reasons, and please use 5 seconds before posting a reply because I'm really tired of nonconstructive reply's.

The litterally _only_ thing you point out as valid is that there is 2 discords, But that is more of a management issue wich you could find out who the admins were of the servers fx, but no instead you come here with your *** IRC agenda trying to pitch IRC when clearly most casual people want and already use something better, and this same shit counts for mumble too, Yes it's open source and that's great, It's also *** trash to setup compared to discord.

I'm going to end my post here because I'm getting more mad by the minute.
If any of you reply with a *** emojy im gonna lose my shit.

This has been a problem since original glest. I gave up on it working back then, And only began playing MG when the serverlist came in, Because then at least it worked.

Looks good; how about stone and the resources in the Stranded and Island Survival scenarios (like iron)? Will you be giving them high-quality textures too?

Nope, It's grass (wich is also on the old texture, i retextured it almost identical over the old texture), aka i didn't change the texture mapping from the old stone,

If enough people like this i might consider doing the stone and (iron?), i wasn't aware iron was even a thing :P, This actually took quite a bit longer than i had anticipated, and over 70+ layers in gimp.

So it definitely depends on how many likes it or if it goes into the official MG repo.

UPDATE: The texture now works. AND looks perfectly! Download high res textures for your pleasure! :D.

This is a new improved texture file for the gold resource. It is free for use and it follows the same license as MG. So get it into the repo already XD

in windows all you do is plop it down here MegaGlest\techs\megapack\resources\gold\models
and replace the old one, And voila, You now have an awesome looking mining node.

@Filux, Do note that such a feature should have diminishing return so after "player" join X times, (2-3 should be sufficient i think) this no longer counts This player, (as to avoid griefing).

For a start, a simple grace period seems fine tho.

As the title says, Could we remove this and perhaps make it show like a tag or similar, Currently the text fills A LOT of space!.

i have been thinking it over a little and i can't really imagine any good reasons for having it as text in the title.

(on a offnote/offtopifc, can't we remove that awful MG_ in front of peoples names in the lobby)

I would think that creating a video file would be kinda out of scope. There's no shortage of dedicated software meant for this purpose and it's often more efficient, too (working directly with the graphics card in some cases). There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. Anyone wanting a video can use such capture programs to make the video (either from a game itself or from watching a recording).

100% Agree, That would be a incredible waste. There is already free opensource dedicated recording software for this (Open broadcaster software)

1. this is how windows does filenames, it doesn't care about case sensitivity. That's a fact whether you like it or not.
2.Yes, this is obvious and i would like you gave me a bit more credit than thinking this was not the case.
3.Yes and it's awesome some day when windows goes full retard with subscriptions and cloud and what else they try to figure out (soul consumption clause anyone?), (and they will). I have a better place to go thanks to awesome people like you!  :thumbup:

i have never had problems with windows file extensions from my point of view Linux is worse in this regard because im used to non-case sensitivity, and your point which you rather rude pointed out, about bugs with file extensions are moot. If Linux was non-case sensitive this wouldn't be a problem regardless if windows bug or not made file extensions with case or not.

And on a final note, You sounded very rude and assumed i didn't understand the problem, then proceeded to rack down on my OS of choice forcing your own belief that a bug or feature is "dumb" and "improve" with quotations.

Do not talk down to me again.. thank you.

edit: i almost forgot the most impotant thing.

@Titi, i think you are right tho. I don't really like it, it feels(for me) like a ugly workaround, But it will be a great help for modders who are on windows so they suddenly don't have users on Linux for which the mod doesn't work for.

1.  this is no bug but a feature request!

I did not look into the code yet, but if its possible its a good idea.
This must be carefully added to not break old things.

Here some things to think about :
- willl this break map compatibility ?
- Player position can have a direction ( default is current behaviour )
- if direction should be editable in map editor and it should be shown in editor.
- the unit placement logic in the game code must get a new "facing" parameter.
- I think that the default facing of every single building should still be "south" as this is what the models are designed for. They don't look that good from hte backside.

Titi, This -IS- a bug, in the sense that one player has such a clear advantage over another.
This should -REALLY- be fixed.
