We should try to do a community release instead. Maybe a new beta? It shouldn't be too hard to compile everything.
After that we should try to promote GAE more to get new testers and developers and then if that fails then could close the board.

Oh my god, Ultifd and Archmage in the same thread? This is like old times again!
:P Haha, good times.

What surprises me is that nobody seems to brag about monitor size. Sure, 1920 x 1080 is the de facto norm, but for a hardcore gamer, you can go further. But they're hellishly expensive, too. A 2560 × 1600 IPS monitor runs about a thousand buckaroos. A more honest approach is multiple monitors. A single 1920 x 1080 monitor is pretty inexpensive. $100-200 dollars for a TN monitor. That's good enough for most people. So add another (or two). It's a great productivity boost to have multiple monitors. Trying to edit and image while flipping back to a source in a different window? Just place one on each monitor.
:O  On Black Friday I finally upgraded to a 24" 1920x1080 monitor from a 1280x1024 monitor. My reaction:  :o
I also found a lot of other good deals on some video cards. Sadly, I already spent 120ish USD on the monitor, and I already had a tight budget this year.
Now If I did have an unlimited budget, I would have bought a 7770 or  GTX 650.  Both were only 70 bucks after a 30 dollar rebate. Now, they aren't really high end but i think a mid-end card would be good enough for me. Especially since I'm still surviving on a 9500gt.
Also while having multiple monitors would indeed be awesome, wouldn't that be bad for the eyes? Especially for people that have bad eyesight...  I mean, we could use lux, but still.

And then there's the fact that you both mention your PSU. Let's be honest here, that's just a bragging point. As long as your PSU delivers enough power to run everything (and you both have plenty excess), that's all you need. Sure, modular cables and bronze+ certification is nice, but when describing your build to someone, nobody really cares. Your case is more interesting than your PSU (seriously, a good case can drastically improve airflow while making your computer look really awesome).
 This reminds me, I also wish that I could have bought this 430 watt PSU, I mean it was only 17 bucks... ::)

Also, operating systems, along with antiviruses, are one program I'd particularly advise against pirating. It's rather unsafe, and if you're building this expensive computer, $100 for the OS is pretty fair. Linux is great, but I don't expect people to work for free. If you like what you pirate, buy it. Consider it "try before you buy".
While I agree with you on this, I'm not sure if I can apply this to Windows 8.  :P

I wonder how many frames per second would I get on MG/GAE with a 9500gt with this new monitor. All I know so far is that both Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends runs great with high FPS on high settings, but both of those games are probably just heavily optimized... When I have time, I'll try to test this. Then maybe I could try to get some updated gameplay videos on Youtube!
...Now that I think of it, we forgot about reddit when we were trying to make MG/GAE more popular. We should try create a reddit thread about it, if we ever try to boost up the popularity of the game/engine.

My favorite: Windows 7, because...
I use Windows 7, as I use a number of programs that don't have a linux alternative (or more specifically, the alternative is inferior). Steam is currently working on porting to Linux, and if that works out, Linux just might become my choice OS in the future, but in the meantime, Steam and most other games are Windows only. Yes, there's WINE, but performance is finicky and it's just too much hassle for me to bother with when Windows works fine for me. I do like how Linux OSes are generally faster than Windows, but to be honest, Windows does get a lot of bad hype because of its defaults. If you know what you're doing, you can speed Windows up greatly, not to mention there's a fair bit of room for customization that's "hidden" out of view. And let's not get started with Microsoft bundling IE with Windows.
From my experiences, Linux is great, but the available programs suffer in the gaming category.
Long story short, Linux has a lot of potential, but it's not for me. And Macs? Macs are just garbage.
As for Windows 8, I'm not sure. If only people could make something similar to roms...  (Android  )
Perhaps I should make a mobile operating system thread tommorow :P Although, it could be complicated.
Now in my current line of service, the Department of Homeland Security issued me a laptop running Windows 7 and a less-outdated version of IE.  I still hate it, but a little bit less.
You still have to use IE?  :green:

Maps, tilesets and scenarios / Re: Map Size
« on: 24 October 2012, 06:59:51 »
His post would probably be better if it was on topic, as I suppose one could consider the GAE map editor to be "buggy" if it crashes...but it doesn't really matter as it is just the map editor. :P

As Omega said, just use the MG map editor since its more refined than the GAE map editor.

So, after playing Okami I found a trailer of a PS Vita game and then, well...  ::)

Haha...nice! :D
But as titi said, if you have units with splash it would be pretty easy to kill them, usually. Or just have a lot of air units and defensive buildings, like what wciow said.

Nitronic Rush is an experimental survival driving game developed by students at DigiPen Institute of Technology. Using the car’s many abilities (including boost, wings, and jump), avoid obstacles that the city throws at you. In many ways the game is a tribute to racing games of the 1990′s, but with fresh graphics, audio, and gameplay.

I don't know, I remember we had a large debate on IRC and in the end nothing really changed to make it more balanced. Although, all we really need to do is lower down some of the stats. I think we tested Romans enough...
