Feature requests / Human-only simulation

Here's a interesting request, good for screenshots or making a simulation:

How about creating a custom game without any CPU's and all factions you are free to command? For example you have two opposing factions and you can command both of them to your own destruction (there can be differing halos instead of green, yellow, and red; halos should be based on the team number/color).

If this has been already been requested before, please send me the link.

When I first log-in, I couldn't see my forum avatar as in before today. Is there a forum-related patch? I was able to relink my avatar as it was before this "patch" happened. I think the avatar removals happened this week for a reason, and it applied to everyone.

[Running MegaGlest 3.12 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit hot keys do not work properly]. I tried pressing F to get to Free Camera, but it appears double-pressed back to Game Camera. Tried also rotating buildings with R, but rotates at 180 angle and I have to hold R to remedy this. The pause and music hotkeys are not affected for an unknown reason.

Feature requests / Persian "princess" melee attack

I found a G3D model of a Princess (from a scenario) of a melee attack. Couldn't this would've been a secondary melee attack? Can this be added for a future release?

The melee attack (looks like a stabbing/piercing attack) would be weaker than the Persian Swordsman, but sometimes useful when melee units are close to her.

Mods / Old Glest files compiling+help with model conversion

Since there is little activity, I suggest gathering old (vanilla) Glest files before they get lost (much like other files, like the dead links, that are already lost).

One such website (still surviving) is this:
http://glest.eurion.net/files (not much of them are of help, but they're still there)

If you have any old Glest files (mods, anything) still in your systems, please try to post them here, they could be of good use for archiving, creating newer mods, and others.

Also, can anyone please lend a hand? I need help converting some .blend files to .g3d (I don't use Blender because I can't do any modeling by myself, and don't prefer installing modeling programs due to my computer's age): http://atze.megaglest.org/models/unused/unusedmodels/unusedmodels.7z

Bug reports / Old Roman models in opening/credits + more TGA's

If you have seen the MegaGlest opening all the way, you might have seen the old Roman Spearman unit still there. Also in the credits, there is the old Spearman unit.

Also, the targa files are still unchanged in the about_models and the main_model folders (not yet in PNG).

I think this has been not been fixed since vanilla Glest, the Swordman/Swordsman's weapon hilt is not aligned with the 2D image, and the G3D files appear the hilt as mostly black, not yellow as expected from the similar Guard unit.

Edit: it's only the swordman_attack.g3d model that is affected, the other swordman/swordsman animation models appear normal.

The Golem's (and the Power Golem's) attack has a high projectile (rock) size value 8 (not "0.8") and size no energy value 4 (not "0.4"), making the projectile like "a big orb of light".

As in:

The texture of Bull from the Megapack (Indians faction) needs a rotation and a flip, literally; I tried it, but the team color is no longer present.

MegaGlest / "Rider" unit

I was looking at the docs files and found this unusual unit from the Tech faction called "Rider", was there a model of a Rider somewhere? I couldn't find them, it is probably a unit from a previous Glest release.

The attack type was "Sword", not "Slashing", take note.

I disabled fog of war at the beginning of this problem.
While I was experimenting with my new medieval mod, I came across an old issue that when you switch teams, your former allies disappear on the world and minimap, and until you revisit your new opponents or switch back, the units come back on both.

Screenshots below.

I am on the Red team; Blue and Green are my former allies, while yellow is my new (once an opponent) ally when recently switched; then switched back to my former allies and yellow is an opponent again.
Note that shared units and resources are disabled.

Also the team numbers are incorrect, I and the two others were in team 1, not team 0; the yellow was team 2, not 1.

Mods / Tileset statues

I would like to request some models that are actually models from some tilesets, but without the grass and everything around them.

There is only one statue I found that has no vegetation around it: the Trojan Horse of the Greece mod, its broken version, and also a model of the base alone.

Here is the model list (for review):
Battlemage = battlemage_statue.g3d (doesn't have a broken version)
Horseman = statue.g3d (broken version is broken_statue.g3d)
Swordman/Swordsman = swordman_statue.g3d (broken version is broken_statue2.g3d)
Technician = technician_statue.g3d (doesn't have a broken version)

With the grass-less version of these statues, I could make optional units that makes these statues useful for boosting nearby units and/or for my help in creating screenshots of beautiful in-game places.

I will understand if you are working on other things.

Starting topic:

Just a quick suggestion: a low-tech version of Tech to fit a medieval techtree, like the Crusaders.

It's the same as Tech, but: the steampunk theme (mainly the battle machine and the air units) removed, and a few units/models/textures from other mods may be used, with the makers' credits though.

Why not rename it to "Feudal," to fit the theme?

If any of you are still busy with your other creations, I'll understand.
I tried to do this myself starting with the Militia but when it tries to load, the Militia gives me the StackTrace error.

After running the megaglest_g3dviewer application, and closing it, I scanned for issues then found this "Open with Application issue : C:\Program Files\Megaglest\m : HKCR\megaglest.g3d\shell\open"

It's always annoying because everytime I open the viewer, nothing's wrong except for not responding after closing when a specific model appears.

I don't see this "m" file anywhere in the Megaglest folder.

How about combining the original Megapack with VBros packs (and others) into techtrees by era? These may require rebalancing.

It appears that most mods and the maps tilesets, around cannot be downloaded because they are outdated or cannot be found.

Much of the files I downloaded used to play the strategy game are no longer available to me.

I am back to posting after how many weeks of inactivity,

When I tried to open glest.exe, there was an error:

"This application has failed to start because xerces-c_2_8.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Where can I download this file? Where can I place it?

When I was searching for new units in this forum, I found the Camelot techtree, (I know it is a long time) and I found two new models/units:

Master Archer
Pikeman

I wish I have to add this units to, "Magitech Refit", but I need someone to retexture these two because it looks like:

1. Master Archer must the the same as the normal archer, it needs a banner or team colour like the normal archer's collar.
2. You must remodel the Pikeman move model, because it looks silly when I command it to move it somewhere in the map. (The difference between Swordsman and Pikeman that the Pikeman has an iron hat and have different weapons.

I played this game, then on some maps, when I move my mouse up down left, or right, then I go to a river area like in Island Siege (the light blue one in the game map on the top left of the game screen: meaning water or river) it slows down the game, when I go to an area with no water or river, it doesn't slow down. What's the meaning of this?

Hello, I am new to this forum, but before I will know what's wrong with something I said, let me introduce myself:

My name is Carl, I am a fan of RTS games, since I stumbled to a directory of games, I have found this! I liked your mods, maps and tilests, even your advanced engine, and liked even the whole game! Now I enjoy this game whenever I want to play, (as I also play other games).

Now for my problem:

When I go to glest.codemonger.org , the website doesn't show up! Why is this?
