From the beginning, I made this faction compatible with magitech/megapack techtrees. This faction doesn't use unique resources, attack and armor types that don't included in magitech/megapack.

So my plan is that I will complete this faction to some extent first, then I hope merge this faction with megapack. To accommodate the faction with megapack, I may add some degree of fantasic units like air units.
then I will recreate whole new historical factions techtree with unique features.

Whoa, calm down everybody. Nobody is trying to step on anyone's toes or bully anyone into doing something they don't want. It was an honest misunderstanding. We appreciate your work, Hagekura, and we are a community that believes in sharing freely, but only if voluntary. I'm seriously sick to death of those "Give all everything you have, It's duty" like polite face constraints.
First I started moddding because it was fun, but recently I feel no fun coz "licenses, license, license,,,".
Do you think I am a slave?

Have I ever told you that I accept you to do uploading them in OGA?
I did say "if", but didn't you say they were CC-By-SA?  Either way, it would be good to know how they should be credited.
I didn't know CC-BY-SA means "Okay for upload my work everywhere, even by not myself, without my wish."

You are "forcing" me contribution. It's severe pain for me.

Seems like I misunderstood about licenses.  Ok, forget it. I back off my licences.
They are not CC so don't use them. I dispose the uploaded models.

Use for whatever you want, please credit me but it's no big deal if you don't.
If anybody uses this, or if I end up uploading your stuff to OGA, how would you like to be credited?  Your name, your handle, something else?

@Hagekura, same question.
Have I ever told you that I accept you to do uploading them in OGA?

That looks great for your first time! Do you use a tablet?

Better at my attempts at 2d anime drawings, personally ill stick to 3D :P
I like your 2D arts too as much as your 3D models, Ishmaru. :)

I want to encourage guys showing their concept sketches or random graffiti or whatever more.
It is interesting to looking at making drawings of any developers.

82
I'll keep trying  ;D

Something to share re AstroMarines supporting faction.
(click to show/hide)
:o It's Not bad for your first time anime style drawing, really.
I can't believe the one was drawn by a man who have never been anime drawing.
You can emphasize the outline edges more and make the colors more vivid and clear,
then nobody will doubt of it's a professional work. ;)

Thank you.
I could get BBcode with thumb from "Action" sidemenu in "My images" page of Imageshack. :O

Hagekura: Adding to first post...

BTW, I encourage thumbnails. :)
Thx, It seems Label thumb option have been disappeared from imageshack recently.
Sorry I'm wrong, I wanted to say, there is still a Label thumb checkbox in upload page, but there is not the option to embed image with thumb in embed image options.

Nice screenshot! I'm looking forward on it.

I want to know what are these words say in Espanol?
"Your order, sir?"
"stand straight!"
"Preparing, Troops!"
"Soldiers, Ready!"
"Yes sir!"
"Right away, sir!"
"March!"
"Advance!"
"Attack!"
"Charge!"
"Ready, Fire!"

I want these voices for my mod's planning spaniard musketeer units.
If I can know what are they say in Spanish, at least I can record them by myself. (but offcourse donation of actual voice files by native speakers will be highly appreciated).

So it's a succession mod of the your former Sun and Moon project? Congrats for the revival!
The buildings looks fantastic. also The soldier units are very appealing to me. I'll definitely check it out!
Hopefully it will run without any fault in my PC.
Did you get a chance to try it yet?
Sure. I had to extract the techtree to play this mod (Put the Archive into Addons folder didn't work for me), but I could play.
And here are my feedbacks:
  • Buildings and Units are very fine. A careful work. I like them.
  • The tooltips about Units and Buildings and Upgrades are really helpful. It helped me a much to get into the mod.
  • Some units standing poses looks a bit unnatural.

Look at the image, their center balances are leaning backward. It causes them looks like flinching.
I suggest you to plunge their upper body forward a bit, so that they looks more aggressive.
  • The human units all have same face textures. It isn't so much matter, but It would be good you give them more varieties of faces.
  • Not to mention sounds and music.
I'm looking forward to development of this mod. keep up the good job!

Oops, I forgot to mention that the Dire Wolves don't have teamcolors.
What do you think about add them some rings on their necks or legs, or add Bardings, or add teamcolor unit particles?

Ha – thank you for all the work you put into the Japanese mod! And while you're deep into Blender, how about an Ichi character with a sword stick..? (I always loved the quiet roaming swordsman/woman idea...) I would love to see an Ichi unit who could do a turning draw and cut, just like in the films. Probably take a lot of work though, eh?
Interesting. It'll be sweet to have kinda Zatoichi like unit as hero unit.
Ofcourse it will take a lot of work, especially regarding it's animations.
Ichi's "殺陣(TATE) = Stage Combat" seen in the movies and TV series are often very speedy and unique and devastating. It would be good challenge for my blender skill to reenact these actions. I might have to watch the movies again and again to study these actions. :scientist:
but For now development of my "legitimistic" japanese faction is somewhat halted coz I'm struggling to researching historical materials :dead:, so It may be a refreshing experience for me to working with fictional heros.

btw I want to go with 2008 remake movie version Zatoichi with girl Ichi acted by Ayase Haruka. :O
What do you think about it?

Every nice little mod. I enjoy small mods with just archers and swordsmen a lot too.
Nice work Kiko, and of course Hage!   :P
I'm glad you enjoyed our mod. Arigato ;D

Quote
Literal translation of the 霊気(Rei-ki) in English is "Ghost Spirit". "霊(Rei)" = "Ghost".

Thanks. That's useful because most people I've known in the UK make a terrible mess of Chinese and Japanese. I even heard someone say that Rei-ki translated to Chinese is Lei-ki, because they can't pronounce the 'R'! Unbelievable. I lost touch with my teacher some years ago after moving a long way, but I'm fairly sure that reik-ki would be wu-chi, or something like that. Mind you, if rei-ki means ghost spirit, then Chinese may be gwai-chi..? I don't know.
:O I can't blame them, since most of us can't distinct English and Irish and Scottish.

霊気(Rei-ki) is generally used for express something spiritual, supernatural auras and atomospheres.
I also don't know what will it be in Chinese. Even though we share many Chinese Characters, pronounce of them are often totally different between Japanese and Chinese.

I'm still thinking of doing a 'mini-mod' from it, with just villagers, swordsmen, etc. Even that's not as simple as I thought at first, as it needs planning for balanced battles and such. It'll keep me busy on cold nights though.  :)
I've added a link for the minimod in the first post of this thread.
I have a high expectation of your minimod project. Give it your all!

Hi kiko, I've just played your minimod.
It was very fun and fresh experience for me to play as the small village based Japanese faction not so much big as Daimyo Clan.
Here are some my suggestions and offers about your mod:

  • You should credit Mr.war also since you are using the paddy model made by Mr.war in your mod.
  • The paddy should produce more foods. When playing in smaller maps, eventually there are no space for place paddyfields. Also, currently when you are run out of food and you have no peasants, there is no way to recover your food production. I recommend you to make peasants consume 0 food so that you can produce peasants to recover your food production even when you have 0 foods.

Yeah, bandits would be better Will, but the Japanese mod doesn't have any scruffy looking bandit type units.
I'm also thinking it might be interesting to add some Bandits or Ronin Units for Japanese faction.
So I'll try make some scruffy looking irregular units such as Bandit Archers or Katana Bandits or something like that. also I'll make a Base building for the bandits such as "Hidden Fortress" or something, so that you can make a Bandits Faction which will be counter for the villager faction.
I'll begin with picture some concept images for them. Expect it, but It'll requires a bit long time so please wait.
Thank you for the nice minimod!

2 and 4 player map designed to work best with Ming/Japanese factions. Each player starting position is designed to look like medieval walled cities with moats or earthworks.
Very nice! I wanted such a maps with moat around the base.

To be honest, kiko, when I saw your name at first time, It occured to me some girl's name, I didn't think of that Qigong = 気功(Kiko). :O because "kiko" is the name which several seen in japanese girl's names, like Princess Kiko.

Literal translation of the 霊気(Rei-ki) in English is "Ghost Spirit". "霊(Rei)" = "Ghost".

I totally agree with your friend. Sound is very important factor in the computer games. Plainly speaking, most of the computer games today have only two-outputs, the visual and the sound. Sound is not just an accessory, but the vital part of computer games. So we have to give a lot of attention to sounds when creating computer games.
I choose all of the sound effects in JPfaction very carefully and made a lot of adjustments about the sound files such as removing noises, and if necessary, adjusted the sound volumes of them.

I'm glad you noticed the Iai animation. Yeah when I made JPunit's attacking animations, I refer to the demonstrations of the martial artists.
It's great you've seen the actual performance of Iaido. Your impression about it is so right. Practicing of the Iaido uses real swords, so unlike Kendo or other martial arts, Practicing of the Iaido was done by individually. They depend on practicing Katas, and suppose they are fighting with imaginary enemy. So Iaido training is the fighting with own self.
Iaido is the killing technique which developed through the actual battles, but it's ultimate goal is to win without fight. Legendary Sword-saint Tsukahara Bokuden also said winning without fight is the best.

I'm sorry, The vid was inappropriate indeed. :O The scene was one of my favorite scenes from the film by Kitano Takeshi. I'll be more careful in the future.  ;)

Kiko, The music track in the faction is from the site: http://soundarbour.sakura.ne.jp/
All of the voice files named hage_xxxxxx.wav are my own voices. others from: http://www.s-t-t.com/wwl/

Here is the list what they actually say in english:

Once again, Nice to meet you kiko. and thanks a lot for your feedbacks on the mod and contribution for making GAE version of the mod. I've not tested it myself though, I'll try it sooner.

About your suggestion about add female units on japaanese, It's worth considering.
In sengoku period of japan, women were very active than today's most people imagine.
They committed in the society a lot and had equal rights as men. and Ladies in samurai family had to practice martial arts like Naginata-jyutu. There were even several cases women joined the actual battles. Most famous example is the Tomoe Gozen. also records show that Daimyo Ikeda Tsuneoki's Lady, Ikeda Sen led the Musketeer troop consisted of 200 Lady samurais.

Btw, please don't abbreviate "Japanese faction" to "JapFac". ;)
It's sounds like "F***ing Jap". :O :O

Edit by Omega: The video is quite unnecessary.
