Titi says its already known, that MG64 3.12 chrashes on windows on exit after being online in Masterserver-lobby. He suspected that this an issue of WIN 10. But its happening on WIN7 64 too.
Its enough to visit the Masterserver-Lobby omce to get a crash on exit (after closing opengl-screen).

After an onlinegame with Titi yesterday I got an errormessage on exit which I show below. Maybe its just something with IRC? Other crashes on exit showed no messages.

Reproduce:

change language in option screen
press save

used colourprofil seems to be changed (slightly changings in colour) and MG freezes with fatal error:

after restart the set language is used fine. Tested with german and english.

Maybe this one relates to installed colourprofiles because of the seen changes.
Colourprofiles woud be nice! Thanks!

its not possible since mg 3.12 to get to the desktop by pressing the windows key.
When you press the windowskey when MG is running, the taskbar is displayed, but game (or lobby or optionscreen) is still displayed. If you click something on taskbar the taskbar disappears again.

And:
go to the MG-Gameserver-Lobby,
press windows key,
Close MG by using the return and exit buttons,
>>>> MG crashes after closing its screens.

3.12-dev is affected with this issues too.

As I tried to build a new Version of Megaglest from Github these days I have to see that my building programs seem to be outdated (with a look at the compiling Doc, still hard to find at https://docs.megaglest.org/MG/Windows_Compiling)

So I scratched all my old Visual and C++ installs manually to avoid confusions amd updated my git to 2.7.1.windows.1 (32Bit, because the old one was 32 Bit too).

After that I installed Visual Studio Community 2015. There was an Errormessage during that:

well, ....

after that I followed the compiling wiki and the build script couldnt find "msbuild". Googling around  I found: seems to be a bug in Frameworks or configuration, no known solutions, just workarounds. So I set a path in windowsenvironmet to the newest msbuild.exe I found. (lots of msbuild.exe are on the machine).

now all building scripts stop like this:

(click to show/hide)

please help

Hi!
Maybe nothing serious:
I played  v.3.10.0-beta1 [Rev: 4905.58cba20] on Win7 64 and recognized, that the roman general does not show his halo as in the other versions of MG. There are no halos on the affected units too.

did you cancel roman generalism in 3.10?

Hi!
I tried the binaries in megaglest-binary-win64-x86_64-3.9.1.7z and have to report that there is no networkgame possible for me on my machine. (WIN 7 64Bit).
I get unknown errors and access violation after the game run a few minutes. every game broke. I think tom made some world-logs of those games. I gave him some console-output too, i think. (tom, that was that very late-night-session!). The game breakes too with no logging.

binary pack megaglest-binary-win32-i386-3.9.1.7z seems to work fine on my machine.

please have alook at that

Hi
Last Weekend we had a short testing with the new 64Bit Snapshots in Network game. Win-Clients crashed after short time.

Today I tried scenarios with this SVN 4682 and they crash after 4,5 mins even doing nothing than starting the game.

console shows:

Maps, tilesets and scenarios / *Random* faction in scenario ? how?
« on: 2 September 2013, 11:36:44 »
Scenarios seem to be headed by xml-tag <players>

Is there a possibility to use randomly setted factions like in custom games?
faction="random" or faction="*Random*" is not accepted.

Hints?
Thanks

tonight I tried to download a tileset via ftp in the lobby of a game Jammyjamjamman was hosting.
After a few % progress I was disconnected from Jammy without an error-message.

I joined again Jammys game (was accepting players). This time I tried to download prax-Faction from him. Again after a download-progress from about 5% I was disconnected from his hosted lobby.
I connected again without restart MG an tried to cancel the offered download via FTP from Jammy. wasnt possible: again and again the download offer appeared.

How to reproduce:
Host a game and set some mods, which are not included by default installation.
join with a Win 64 client, who is missing those mods.
accept download via ftp from game-hoster.
working?

maybe Jammys wire was unstable last night again...

MegaGlest / polished menu-sounds
« on: 10 February 2013, 20:53:31 »
As a MG-Fan I love the whole atmo of the game including all the sounds. Just beautyful and funny.

Its a shame, that two important ones are nearly destroyed by somehow noisy recordconditions. These are the attak-alert and the chat-whistle. Of course it is blasphemic to replace this sounds to completly new ones, so i tried to polish these two ones to become more HiFi without distortions and noise, but keeping their charakter.

May be, you want to use them in the next release:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?s7gjcng6s6ky5da
Edit by Omega: Hosting site used has malware ads disguised as the download button; replaced link with mediafire mirror

Other people which cannot await the integration can copy the two files to
gamedirectory\data\core\menu\sound (on windows)
on other os you can just search for highlight.wav and attention.wav and replace them with the ones from the given zip-file.

MegaGlest / (False positive) virus detection on megaglest.exe, AVG
« on: 1 February 2013, 11:37:40 »
Some extraordinary intelligent virus-scanner might detect megaglest as virus.

This happened to me with http://www.avg.com/de-de/homepage .
The application detects (sometimes!) a danger of password-spying in megaglest by a modul called "identity protection". Megaglest seem to be dangerous because it looks for keyboard-events and send them over the internet.

I missed the warning-messages somehow especially running headless servers - and thats dangerous because some day AVG will decide, that this is a serious problem and will hide megaglest and some related objects like batchfiles and lnks without further notice. Its doing this unpredictable an well hidden on next reboot.

So, if you get strange issues of dissapearing megaglest.exe than have a look at your virus-protection.

Playing with tomreyn and others tonight I get Framecount-errors one after the other. First was hosted by tom, the second by david, I guess. First appeared in the very end of the game (dont know, if host was quitting), second appeared in game progress (the very big one with 8 Networkplayers).

Debug was turned off for having less lag. Network, error and screens at

happening on megaglest v3.7.2-dev
Compiled using: VC++: 1600 on: Jan 16 2013 21:34:05 platform: Windows endianness: little
SVN: [Rev: 4034] - using STREFLOP [SSE] - [no-denormals]

selection via rectangle having strange effects. Wrong items are selected too. See screen at http://megaglest.pzt.me/86wg

sometimes even complete different kinds of units are selected: You selected three initiates and an behemoth is selected too. This is weired because the ordering options are different then of course.

another thing is, that it is nearly impossible to attack a ornithopter by rightclick, when he is above trees. you will always select only trees and all your fighters will be gone, before they did any hit.
all thios happened in scenario "one hope"

may be its all the same, my personal "niggybug" on windows.

its this "ZwGetContextThread!ntdll (null)(0) +18" again. This time the headless (urg) running 3.7.2 rev 4001 died somehow in the final of a long big 4 player game.

Errorlog
Quote
[2013-01-10 23:20:01] Runtime Error information:
======================================================
Unknown error!
Stack Trace:
00000000 00000000 00000000 d182862d ZwGetContextThread!ntdll (null)(0) +18
00000000 00000000 00000000 d182862d ZwGetContextThread!ntdll (null)(0) +18

everything was fine (may be controller diconnected, because it was the final undertaking on the screen), and suddenly my windows client (other machine but running win7 64 3.7.2. r4001 too) displayed:
"server disconnected"

screen of server: http://megaglest.pzt.me/4i3v

logs of server were destroyed by server restart through batch as I closed the "Megaglest.exe funktionoiert nicht mehr" - Window. So exit-option of headless-mode was still alive, although windows reportet died application.

shall we put all this "ZwGetContextThread!ntdll (null)(0) +18" on windows in one thread or is this a very common errormessage?

yes, i will try 4005

I had this often when playing with Titi. He is hosting (no headless) with linux (an 3.7.2 beta i think).
I am in game with Win 7 64 and other players.

After the game ( I guess when hoster is exiting) mg crashes with error message ( see in error log) and freezes - or collapsing and windows is reporting software malfunction. Other windows-gamers in the same game were reporting the same behaviour.

see ends of logs:

http://megaglest.pzt.me/1b1c

my machine was the same as in : https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=8839.0
