big maps are big requirements for your pc i guess. the bigger the map, the more it loads, the more it loads, the slower it is :D empty or not empty its still big.
thats my guess at least im no expert

Hi guys, i decided to continue my mod, but i just noticed that the g3d exporter script doesnt work in the 2.8 blender version. Is there a way to fix it, or the script needs updating ? i cant downgrade blender without downgrading the many many library and dependencies or whatever (im not expert) i tried to downgrade it, but it keeps crashing. any ideas ?

Oh, so if i host my own, its possible to play any kind of mod i made ? (if they are the same for all players of course)

Hello!

I have made a custom tech and a pack for it. It works just as intended, everything is all right, except me and my friend cant play it in network game. I have sent it to her, she downloaded, placed it in the mods folder just like i did, and in singleplayer everything works just fine. but when i go to an internet game, chose the tech pack, and when she joins on the server (one of the public ones) for some reason, it switches back to something default like the megapack, or sometimes a previusly chosed mod of mine which she doesnt even own. Why it does that ? how can i fix this issue ?
(we tried to put it near the core techs, near the mods, rename it, etc. each time it worked in singleplayer, but does this weird swap back in network game)

nah, im good, they are not THAT loud, i have very sensitive ears, so it can only be me. and they dont interrupt the gameplay, so its fine :D

Are you going to stick to some historical realism or more fantasy?
i guess the trojan horse and the ball guys tell its not really realistic :D

btw i got to test it with you, and it was like the old, but its really re-mastered :D
i really like the new form of it. except that chickens are loud....

now i understand what i did missed untill now :) i wasnt realy requesting them, (coulse it would be done already, propably a lot of us asked for them) i just wanted to know why, and what happened and stuff. so now i know them :) i like the way MG is, otherwise i would play 0AD or something instead :D but MG has thoese litle things that its good at, and i love them :) i still want to improve it, so i will learn coding it, and i will try to develop it if i manage to get there :DD

yeah, i wasnt thinking about ai ... newer tryed GAE, so i dont know how it uses water units and so on... but the possibilities could be there, but the main techtrees of course wont use them as they dont do it now, but others (like me) could make a few techtrees, that has theese cool features, and in pvp they would be wery cool.
i want to work on getting better in coding MG, but that is a long way to go from here. i wish i could help in it now, but i can only ask for theese features currently xP

yeah, i know ai cant use it, but its quite fun seeing them build strange wall systems for no reasons .... i tought it doesent build just random, i tought it builds by dephences of warriors and stuff to beat the opponent.

Ahoy there!

I saw a lots of awesome features of GAE. and i also saw, that its abandoned now :/ i dont know a lot about how this works, but why GAE isnt merged into MG or something ? at least thoese simple things like "generate" and fields: any_water and a few more stuff. thoese are awesome features, and i want them in MG! :D
in my opinion theese changes, could cause mayor changes in gameplay in a better way! the old style will stay, but with a lot of extras like boats that carry people, or markets (market is still possible, but its quite odd) and a lot more that dephends on imagination! the game may become ewen more popular. i would realy like to help in this, but im a wery starter at programming.

i hope we will find a solution!

theese are the models, they are wery simple, i will improwe them later when i get better at modelling :D i think its not bad for a start!
also the door when closed, no one can walk trought, but when opened, you can!

thanks for the reply, i managed to learn the basics, and i realy love modding MG :) the api is just awesome, its super easy! and i newer used blender and stuff before, but you guys helped me, so that is ok too. now i made some walls, and a gate for them, witch can open and close itself with animation :D so im wery happy that i managed to make it, thanks to all of you who made the wiki and helped me!
the glest guide could be helpful, but we will live without it i hope lol ...
i understand that you have family, or just have your own life, and that is fine, and sould be like this. still an outstanding job, and feel free to ask us to do something instead of you ;)

hey huys, i have a cuple of questions:
i am using blender v2.79.2 btw.
1: it keeps giving me an error: "first texture slot in first material isn't of type IMAGE or it's not unwrapped, texture ignored" whatewer i change. i tried a tons of things to make it work, but couldnt. (for example, unwrapping first, trying cycle render, and blender render, making a metarial plus texture, making texture trought material, and a few stuff i find in tutorials how they done)
2: i followed the instructions on the glest wiki, and it gives me the error abowe. i made a video what i do, and please tell me what do i miss to make it work!
3:can someone make a short video just showing how you make a modell with texture and render it into a g3d file, and show it rendering out ?

this problem solved now!
but i would still like to know why glest guede doesent work now :/

i have a problem with rendering. i followed the instructions on the wiki, and it gave me this error:first texture slot in first material isn't of type IMAGE or it's not unwrapped, texture ignored
i saw that others had this problem, but i never saw an answer to my problem. they only said that we need to add a material. well, i did so, in several ways for example with cycles render, blender render, texture via material, texture near metarial, used UV editing , unwarped it, and so on that i learned from tutorials. bun none of them worked for me, it keeps giving me this error abowe.
PLEASE HELP ME! im totally out of ideas what to do to fix it :DDDD

(glest guide doesent works owerall)

i found the link in the first wiki you shared. but that link didnt work. i didnt know about the second one, so that may answer my questions :D
i do have an idea: cavemans. with dinosaurs and stuff. it wont fit so well, in the age, but we can still make a "they use dinosaur" faction...

As for the sizes, it depends. If you load a few existing models into blender you can see how big they are. For example, the "main" building for each faction is about the same size. Fighters are about the same size as well.

so there is a g3d support stuff, that lets blender open g3d files ? i tought they can be only viewed by g3d viewer or something.

hello guys!

someone asked me to ask my questin here, so i did:
i can't reach the glest-guide from the wiki link and any other link. but i still would like to know how to modell for glest/megaglest.
can someone help me find the page, or just tell me the basics, like what size it has to be, how to render it in g3d, and etc. (with blender of course)
i made my mod alrerady by using other modells, but i would like to make more!

Hello, i am Elvas. Im playing Megaglest, coulse i wasnt allowed to play the original Glest. (coulse of the grafical content or whatewer) i am 17 now, and already made my first mixed mod.
