You can't animate UVs, to animate treads you will need to make each link it's own mesh and animate them separately. This is how tanks are done in the Annex mod.

some feedback on your models love your bike, tank is good, but the wheels on tank (Or Gears?) looks painted on. I would recommend modeling that differently.

I would recommend not doing transparency through alpha channels as the detection is a little off.   My experience is that alpha channels with areas less than 50% are not rendered at all, and areas greater than 80% are rendered fully opaque.

Instead use G3DHack to define mesh opacity, and this way you can have team color alpha channel and define opacity on same mesh. Using different meshes to define zones of different degrees of transparency.

A minecraft mod is a great idea. I do hope this mod is more than just using mobs as units, and includes more unique and creative buildable objects. I'm sure there's thousands of Redstone contraptions on youtube to inspire you.

On a side note cows look to small, but other than that it looks great!!

However, why is it multiplying by so much? What is the logic that makes having 2 boosting units have X34 and not X2. That's what I don't understand.

Would it be possible to correct this behavior?

Crimson Maidens



For fun I put together is faction using mostly re-skinned models from the other factions with some unused models. The theme is more of mecha influenced units, with of course female infantry.  This faction is focused on infantry supported by long range combat vehicles. They lack in any heavily armored vehicles which can make prolonged battles difficult, however they do have numerous upgrades for their infantry, and vehicles. Currently they have a hero unit, Falcon but currently no super weapons.

Story



With an increasing global conflict over crystal energy, leads to unrest and civil war in the areas of the world not governed by the three main powers (Alliance, Republic, and Shadow) of the world. Rebels, Militias, and Gorilla factions, secretly backed by the great powers, are growing world wide. No where is this more prevalent than in the Southern Wastelands. Dozens of tribes in the area waged savage war over territory disputes. In the chaos rose the Crimson Maidens, who fight to end the conflict in the Southern Wastelands. The Maidens are a female only army consisting of many victiums of the war, from those who lost their family, to angry rebels, all the way to elite military defectors who are tired of fighting for someone else's gain. For years the maidens used bribes and secret support from all world powers to amass a military large enough, and advanced enough to dissuade any military action in the region. Their ultimate goal is to end the world powers influence in the region using the very equipment that they sold to them.

Dragon Riders, The Dragon spits fireball, and the Rider throws a dagger. Archmages, perhaps, Launching 3 fireballs, from three different starting points at once?

@Ishmaru: the healthbars do not replace the rings! You still need something to indicate the selected state of the units. Healthbars to show the selected state are a very bad idea in my opinion.

@titi: Agreed, but having an hp ring indicator, ep ring indicator, and hp and ep bars all at once is overkill, ugly, and very difficult to read.

- How about when hp bars are enabled then selection is shown by a thin circle that's just the team color? Much more clean and easy to read :)

UPDATE (more options):

use the whole ring to show the health state in visible color:
(click to show/hide)

Use only a spot in the front to show the health state in obvious color:
(click to show/hide)

You are on to something with the second option, though i think the green/red colors are an issue.
I personally think that health should be represented by green and the selection should be black. This would look more aesthetically pleasing as well as not be as confusing. The issue with red is that that is usually representative with enemy, so it would be strange to see red on your own units.

Personally I love them, like the border and the color change when hp is low. I want them even if it means just as an option in the menu.

I think before you go changing anything, I think a test/patch should be released so we can see test it ourselves before we praise or condemn it.

I mainly played basebattle now the last days. One thing that turned out to be problematic playing vs the CPU player is the Bunker. This is much too stable and using many of them is a safe way to win. I think they have  too much armor.

I hear what you are saying, but i think the bigger issue is the cpu focuses too much on massing cheap units. Bunkers have high hp but (like most defenses) don't hold up well against the heavier weapons + siege weapons given later in the game, which the AI rarely produces. :(

Yes, https://bitbucket.org/annexctw/  is where annex data is stored. Just for the record, Annex uses an unmodified version of MegaGlest 3.9.1 engine (3.9.0 for OSX release).

Quite awesome, but changing the resolution really messed up my system (Kubuntu14.04) and froze the mouse... no alt-tab out and afterwards the resolution of my desktop was changed.

After changing it manually in the .ini is works nicely... just the color-schemes of the units seems to be too close to the ground textures sometimes.

Edit: The screenshots here and on the website are HUGE. 1.4mb downloads for small embedded pics...

I apologize for having your troubles with the resolution. That is something we will look into for future releases. Thank you for the FreeGamer post!
