It looks like the military tech tree is eternally doomed, since the AI always find a new way to muck things up... Until I find out what went wrong there, I am going to make one last, final attempt to make a working mod. (Odd, I made one before that had 4 factions and no troubles at all...) This mod, will be one that will fit in magitech, and will be one that has near unlimited ideas... THE UNDERWORLD FACTION!

I am going to make this faction completely balanced so that it fits in magitech, and therefore, it will have no new resources, (sorry) it will use energy rather than food, and because of that, I need a building of some sort for producing energy. (I will have that building produce invisible, spaceless units to create more energy!) Please leave ideas and/or comment. No flames please! :D

Something needs to be done about people advertising and placing pornography on the glest boards. I say you ban IPs. This is getting annoying seeing pornography and advertisments on the Glest Forums. (Why did they suddenly start appearing anyway?)

Many Glest players are underage, and showing pornography on these boards is ILLEGAL!

To get to the point, something must be done! :evil:  >:(

ADDED// We need more moderators. According to the Usergroups, there is 2 moderators and only one (@Kukak@) is really active. (Titi is said to be a moderator, but for some reason is not recognized by the Userlists)
I say we open up the moderators group once more. (We should have about five modernators that are from different places in the world so that they can be on at different times)

Moderators can help reduce this spam that is filling up the boards!

I've used simple Lua scripting to make 2 scenarios which have huge armies (over 150 men per army) that will rush each other. They are hence automatic. Try them out though, they're cool! Full Scale involves 2 full scale tech armies of vast portions. The foe is the defenders, you are the attackers.

Wave involves 2 armies of ~550 men, all soldiers and guards which both run and meat in the center with a titalic clash which leaves hundreds dead!

All right, after a hour of studying the tutorials in 3.2.beta1, I've finally made a dew of my own. These two are advanced tech and advanced magic and tell how to produce the most powerful units.

But the true reason that you should try them out is because they both have a hilarious story line style (for example, in Advanced Tech, you get commanded by a strict and cranky general) and features dialogue between yourself and a NPC.

Has everyone checked out he new Glest 3.2.1Beta? It has the tutorial option. All scenarios however, must be added to a folder of the same name. The menu screen is different because it has just the new game or join game. Scenarios is located in a submenu under new game.

Heres a question though, when making a tutorial, I finished it up with fighting the oponent. However, everything works fine except that when it reaches that point, it says xxx (which is the opponents unit) is not found. They are spelled correctly, and I tried to give a different unit only to get the same message. Whats wrong, and how do I fix this???

BTW people, you should try the new glest version, just remember to change english.lng to english.lng.lng (I don't know why)

Ok, this is gonna sound bad...
How do you turn off fog of war? I thought setting 0 for fog of war in glest.ini would do it, but it didn't. I tried adding 0 fog of war smoothing and stuff, but with no success. So, how do I turn FoW off?

So lets get this straight, the Ancient Pack is a pack which includes the Ancient Tech Tree (with church and hellfire factions)  a number of scenarios, a few maps, and a bunch of images. It is a full scale pack!

The Pack is now in Beta version, but I can't release it. I have a spoiler PDF with the unitrs and all.

I have a number of questions on various things. Some may seem noob like, others may be impossible to answer. Feel free to post your own questions here, or to answer only a few. Any help is thanked in advance. Please make your answers polite, and do not sound aggressive. If you feel this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it.

Now the first question...

1) Can I have a unit go on water for navel battles in normal glest? [Not really - @kukac@] darn

2) Is it possible to have an entire faction (maybe tech tree) navel style so that you can have an 'open sea' map? [Not really - @kukac@] pity

3) Can I copy the entire glest_3.1.2 folder and make the GAE in that copied folder? [Yes, and I think, it's the best solution - @kukac@] Good...

4) Where's the best place for c++ coding tutorials? [Google - @kukac@] Thanks

5) Is there any way to allow guarding, patrolling, pets, etc; in regular glest? (I doubt you can... but it never hurt to ask...)

Mods / Projectile Colours

I, as many might know, am creating my own faction. Does anyone know how to make projectiles (spells to be more exact) black in color? I made the church factions white, but the hellfire factions a toughie. I tried putting 0 for all colours (red, blue, green, alpha) but ended up with an invisible spell. (damage still inflicted). Would giving it some alpha (transparency) help?

I know this is pretty noob-like, but can some explain how to use the export script for blender if the program isnt working? (By program, I mean the converter thing) The wiki says to change some lines. I can do this in note pad, right? And could someone explain in more detail how to change those lines? >:(

I played some games were the cpu just stood there. It sent the basic starting units to attack me, then did nothing. I ended up with a game saying the computer had no resources mined, no units made, and nothing else.

It's back to normal now, but could anyone explain how it happened?

This is for the Ancient Tech Tree, which includes the new church and hellfire factions.

This is a list of units, designated for model makers so they have a slight description of the units.

CHURCH FACTION:
~altar    -  Makes prayer, the equilivent of energy
~bishop   - Powerful mage unit
~chapel   - Like the 'castle' of the church faction
~godwyrm   - A large, holy dragon
~hells_curse   -  A tower which shoots black projectiles at foes
~holy_element  - A element of the purest light
~holy_one   - A large foe which hurls balls of light
~hospital    -  A healing center
~other_worldly_beast    - A large foe from another world
~paladin    - A soldier cloaked in holy armor
~pope     - One step up from the bishop and the most powerful spellcaster
~portal  - A portal which creates warriors and paladins
~priest   - The 'worker' of the church faction
~research_hall   -  A hall dedictated to researching upgrades
~warrior_of_light    -  The basic warrior of the faction
~worship_hall   - A hall for summoning godwyrm, other_worldlies, and
                          holy ones

HELLFIRE FACTION:
~blood_element  -  A rank 2 element (colour=blood red)

General discussion / Numbering Groups???

I read in the manual about numbering groups. It doesnt seem to work for me, though I am in the right camera format.

Can someone explain?

Since I'm making the new church faction, and I have no skill in making models, let me ask you all a question... if you had the option of helping someone make a new faction, and you WOULD recieve credit, as well as you would be making interesting (or at least new) models, would you help?

EDIT// This topic was too biased on the church faction. To date, there is now a whole mod pack and it has its own factions (church, hellfire, and now OMEGA) as well as scenarios. Tutorials (requires glest 3.2 beta 1) are also included.

0.9.1 - More testing required to look for bugs. Need model for the elements (fire, blood, death, chaos, holy)
0.8.0- bishops attack downscaled. Decreased necromancers spawn speed and added a magic attack for them. Fixed colours of projectiles. Increased spawn rate of lords.
0.7.2 - Played some games, fixed some bugs.
0.5.2 - Hellfire faction complete. Some models are temporary.
0.4.0 - Hellfire faction started. XMLS for some units and models created.
0.3.1 - church faction complete. Some models are temporary
0.3.0 - Doing lots of work... Still can use models
0.2.3 - XMLs created for some units. Models made, but most are temporary.
0.1.0 - Gathered ideas. Need help making models

Mods / New Resource!

I've created a new resource that will go with my Techtree. It's called herbs and is used with my hospital. The only problem is this: The hospital heals fine, but it is a building and moves, which looks kinda freaky. I've added a range to its heal skill, but it still moves right next to the unit.

In other things, I also need free G3D models for my techtree. All submissions will be credited!
