Bug reports / Re: Trouble with colorpicking in 3.9.0
« on: 24 November 2013, 03:58:33 »
Feel free to review the class: BaseColorPickEntity in model.cpp to see if you can find something wrong with the color assignment. I cannot find anything wrong.

Thanks

*UPDATE: I committed some code to hopefully make this impossible to happen again. Let me know if you are able to reproduce this using svn head.

Closed bug reports / Re: crash with missing tech tree (in v3.9.0)
« on: 23 November 2013, 19:43:38 »
Fixed in svn

128
At this point no. There are a number of properties that only need to be set in special cases (like this one). I am not totally sure that some of the properties added are needed anymore and i need to do some testing to weed out older properties that are no longer required.

129
I just removed it from the english file so it will no show up anymore for other languages once transifex gets the update.

MegaGlest / Re: Move repo to git?
« on: 21 November 2013, 20:32:54 »
We would really like to move the history with us. pabs (from the debian games team) worked on this a while back and i ftp'd the scripts to an archive at:

http://softcoder.megaglest.org/megaglest-svn-to-git-scripts_only.7z

If possible please see if you can modify the svn and git urls to use a) the new sourceforge svn report url and b) a test git repo and see if the script does what we need.

Once we know the state of that we can start looking at these other steps. (I don't have the bandwidth to be able to run these scripts)

132
Look in hebrew.lng for:

FONT_RIGHTTOLEFT_MIXED_SUPPORT=

This line should NOT contain and hebrew. I am assuming you have a hewbrew.lng file you edited yourself?

133
What we need to know is:

a) does this only happen in network games (we must be sure)
b) if network only, does this only happen when a windows player is client only, server only or both?

With this info we could try to track this to its source.

134
Is this still relevant given the 3.9.0 release?

Edit glestuser.ini in ~/.megaglest and add this line to see if if helps fix this crash:
Code: [Select]
PreCacheCRCThread=false
Thanks

'AI Replacement Multiplier' is shown when 'Advanced Options' is checked. The AI is always a CPU Normal player but you can adjust the resouce multiplier (Default is 1.0). So the player is regular AI by default.

The stack trace doesn't appear to show much useful info. You could try running with the: --verbose parameter and see what the console shows at the time of segfault.

MegaGlest / Re: Egypt & Roman?
« on: 18 November 2013, 17:34:13 »
Romans have the best defence of all factions, but their attack strength is not even close to Egypt in my opinion. Each faction has strategies you can use to win though in my opinion as long on you have enough resources on the map. With low resources, egypt or Indian usually win.

MegaGlest 3.9.0 release - come and get it while its hot (svn revision 4846)
Downloads are below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY6zI5t9yXU

Installation files are available on sourceforge at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/megaglest/files/megaglest_3.9.0/

Linux 32 and 64 bit full and stand alone archives, Windows full and stand alone archives.

Please be aware that there are several mirror servers for sourceforge. After clicking on the file you wish to download you will see a page with fine print allowing you to go to a special page where you can then select a mirror server close to you which has the given file. For example, if you wanted to download MegaGlest-Installer-3.9.0_i386_win32.exe and are from Brazil, you may want to click on said link, ending up on
http://sourceforge.net/settings/mirror_choices?projectname=megaglest&filename=megaglest_3.9.0/MegaGlest-Installer-3.9.0_i386_win32.exe
As a Brazilian, your best choice is probably the mirror server in Brazil, so you would click that one, and restart the download. This time you should get forwarded directly to the brazilian server and thus get a faster download.

Note that we also provide Bittorrent downloads now (click the magnet icons on the download page), this may work better if your Internet connection is less reliable for downloads from far away.

MegaGlest / Re: Rock Solid Stable - Release Time
« on: 17 November 2013, 01:39:49 »
We are preparing a release v3.9 tonight (GMT -8) or tomorrow. All is in great shape, and testing has been fantastic. v3.9 will be a classic for a long time to come.

Keep watch for release details.

The problem is that we switched to a 2 digit version system after 3.7.0, but we did not properly reflect that during the beta's for 3.8. We SHOULD HAVE set version #'s to 3.8-dev, 3.8-beta1, 3.8-beta2 and finally 3.8 on release. I think we  will need to set the release to v3.9 to correct this and then remember to use the 2 digit system in the future. This was intended so that the 3rd digit is just a marker indicating minor changes but still compatible. I have added unit tests in svn to describe how versioning is expected to work for future reference.

MegaGlest / New command line command to create data archives
« on: 14 November 2013, 07:04:03 »
I added a new comandline parameter this evening that allows you to have megaglest use 7z to create 7z data archvies for: a) techtrees, b) tilesets or both.

Code: [Select]
megaglest --create-data-archives=all
This is useful for sharing techtrees and tilesets that you have locally but other network players (nor masterserver) do not.
This is a convenience command only and i don't want to expand its usage much beyond what is already there (a shortcut for calling 7z for soem game data)

Its a good way to refresh your shared data archives when working on mod data.

Thanks

143
I fixed (i think) the multi line problem. Regarding 'mixed' right to left and left to right lines of text, i added an experimental way to display this, but its not perfect and may slow things down. Using a current svn build you would set this in the language lng file:

FONT_RIGHTTOLEFT_MIXED_SUPPORT=true

144
The problem seems to occur when you mix Right To Left and Left To Right together in the same line.

145
Sorry but your image is not showing in the post so we cannot see the problem

146
Try the latest win64 on softcoder.megaglest.org/megaglest64.exe and report back on results.

MegaGlest / Rock Solid Stable - Release Time
« on: 9 November 2013, 07:31:12 »
We have been testing 3.8.0 all week and I just wanted to say, that network play is finally incredibly stable! We are able to play cross platform games with 5-6 humans and 2 CPU's for 60 minutes with no lag and no out of synchs. We will be releasing likely tomorrow (Saturday) and look forward to hearing about your experiences with 3.8.0.

Enjoy!

148
More bug fixes, try again same location.

149
I think i found the root cause of your issue. Please download again and test:
