The original idea of the map was to be able to easily fortify your position on a map that didn't look too unnatural.  Also I tried to keep the openings to the home bases fairly large and gently curved for the AI.

I'm not really sure how to do formal testing but I have played on that map a lot and I have not really noticed the AI getting confused ever.  It seems to be able to find every nook and cranny.

I have noticed if you are in the top right corner spot you can confuse your troops if you don't pay attention and click to send them somewhere right on the outside edge of your home base.  If anything needed a little reshaping it might be that. But the AI doesn't get stuck there.

I made this map a while back... I just did some updates and I thought I would share.  Any thoughts?

Consider it public domain.   ;D

I had to actively search for the mods not knowing if they even existed or would work well.  A well organized page of completed mods accessed from a menu in the game would be very user friendly and slick especially if they could self install.  The mega pack I installed was 118 meg and I'm sure quality mods will keep coming so adding them to the game would make it a prohibitively large download.
I think it would make it obvious that good add-ons for glest are available.

You can't win as Indians! :P
You're doing it wrong, create cheap ground forces and make Thunderbirds. Your cpu opponent attacks the ground forces while 4 or 6 Thunderbirds completely devastate his air attack units then point your Thunderbirds at what's left of the ground forces.  Thunderbirds have amazing attack they just take a long time to make and won't stand much damage.

When I say a way to make it go after gold, is there a mod or will that be a GAE kinda thing?

First I have to say thank you guys for Glest and all the mods it's hands down one of my favourite Linux games. I have been playing Glest for a while now and I was searching through the mods for some more factions and stuff... I found the Glest megapack_v4.7z it contains some really good mods. I guess my first comment is why can't you guys have an in game menu that links to a page of mods.   I would put the menu on the victory as a treat for the first time you beat cpu. ;D (for two reasons a reward and so you don't get killed on bandwith)
Cpu might be better divided into three or four divisions something a little easier than cpu regular would be nice and maybe something between regular and ultra. I often played with a cpu team mate when learning the game initially or trying new factions and that is where an easy would be nice.
The last thing I want to ask is there a way to get the cpu to go after gold and build castles on new resource sites.  As a human player I understand that if I find a new pile of gold that's the place to build a castle but the cpu lacks that.
