I never played this game for years since I used another computer with a faster internet connection; and got busy with other media.

are you trying to download maps/tilesets/techtrees from the mod download center.
It worked fine; the download center in-game is a great addition though.

are you hosting yourself or are using the headless servers provided by the MG team?.
I don't host servers, I just enjoy the game.

Much of the older threads of this forum have links that say "file not found" or redirect to main site. I go to the older threads like the maps made by seanmc and the map of Japan (recently exploring the forums today), all ending up with links not found.

Remember Magitech Refit? That's the one with the walls and everything. (Download link is already a dead link by now)

There is more, so please tell me everything I missed.

Before downloading any mod, read this first; because there are dead links (or download errors/lost files) found all over the place. Expansions of the list are welcome; just post here.
Links include old vanilla Glest mod files.

Since I came here:
It appears that most mods and the maps tilesets, around cannot be downloaded because they are outdated or cannot be found.

Much of the files I downloaded used to play the strategy game are no longer available to me.

What's happening? Please reply.

I am back to posting after how many weeks of inactivity,

When I tried to open glest.exe, there was an error:

"This application has failed to start because xerces-c_2_8.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Where can I download this file? Where can I place it?

Yes there is, you need to make mountains, (see my thread named: How do you make mountains?) then make a downhill path like in the small Four Castles map, and need a makeover such as more trees, like that.

Sorry for double posting:

Here is some more resources from Stronghold 2:

Flour
Candles
Grapes

In the granary, there are four possible resources aka food:

Apples
Bread
Meat
Cheese

And in the Lord's Kitchen there are actually five possible food:

Pigs
Eels
Geese
Wine
Vegetables

And this two posts I made isn't OT. It means these are the resources, but I recommend the first ones, in Stronghold 2, which they are stored in a stockpile/in stockpiles.

When I was searching for new units in this forum, I found the Camelot techtree, (I know it is a long time) and I found two new models/units:

Master Archer
Pikeman

I wish I have to add this units to, "Magitech Refit", but I need someone to retexture these two because it looks like:

1. Master Archer must the the same as the normal archer, it needs a banner or team colour like the normal archer's collar.
2. You must remodel the Pikeman move model, because it looks silly when I command it to move it somewhere in the map. (The difference between Swordsman and Pikeman that the Pikeman has an iron hat and have different weapons.
