MegaGlest / Re: Problem with MG menu after playing Annex mod
« on: 31 August 2011, 00:52:01 »
Well, for the windows version Ishmaru just compresses all the files for Annex with 7z...
I suppose Ishmaru just needs to change this:
<file-name value="$APPDATA\megaglest\glestuser.ini"/>
like instead of megaglest, let it be "annex" or whatever...

One of the more obvious things, is that you'll get less downloads. A good example is Annex...would probably have at least 100 more people playing it if it was in the MDC.

What I think(not shure I will check for it when at home) can easily be done at the moment ( MG3.5.2) is that each game has its own userpath. By this you have a directory .megaglest and .annex which are seperate from each other. So you don't see tilesets/techs/maps of MegaGlest anymore in ANNEX and vice versa and all settings are seperate from each other by this.
Yeah, but this should be done by default by the modders...

Great! If only this could have been a bit earlier though... :-X

Well, the one reason not to use it is that if it's an addon, the menu has to be the same as MG or GAE right? I'd imagine the G3D that ishmaru made is pretty cool.  As for GAE, I'll just say non-solid makes a noticeable difference in megabytes...
No, you can still replace the menus models. Just replicate the exact folder structure from the installation directory. Files that appear in a different location in GAE would need a duplicate, but would still work. The MG only files would be ignored by GAE, and vice versa.
Huh?

IMO Glest games might not go well with a maximum unit count. Besides that, I guess the only real problem would be the AI. Have you done any tests on this yet?

Well, I think it would be kinda hard to design or play a Mario RTS for the Wii, Wii U, or the 3DS.

Every 8 weeks/~2 months...usually its just improvements/bug fixes. Every now and then there's going to be a new feature.

Well, I think the first pack will fit the website a bit better than the hand drawn ones...

Firefox 6 is here...so it's supposed to run 20% faster at times.
I guess Chrome will always be faster, but it'll probably never beat Firefox's customization...

Mods / Re: documentation of glest forks
« on: 17 August 2011, 18:27:32 »
There's also resource particles too. We just need Ishmaru's mod to come out sometime so MG can shine a bit. :D
Engine-wise, I think MG has better end game stats too.

MG does have some features that GAE doesn't, and then again multiplayer is a big thing. Hopefully we'll have a stable release from both sides. Mostly the new features are what Mr. War said (devs/testers have been busy). You can find a bit more here: https://docs.megaglest.org/Engines#Comparison_of_the_Engines
Also AI/pathfinder/general FPS is a bit better than GAE. Will's new fix seems awesome too.
IMO save game isn't that great in Glest anymore, compared to other games anyways.
If possible, the best thing to do is release your mod for MG, and then release it for GAE. More people will probably play it with MG (because of multiplayer/MDC), but if they want the many features that GAE has they can easily grab that.

So...many...stereotypes... Urge to kill... rising.
What about:
Ill look into the Canadian goose sounds, thanks.
I thought you were Canadian? Go outside (yes, scary place, don't forget your body armour) and record one yourself. There's about a million around these parts.
Don't commit suicide...  ;)

Omega: I know it's dangerous out there, kupo, but this is getting a bit off topic.

The MMORPG is Spiral Knights.
Oh no, I would never do that. (I've also played Runsecape before, too...)

I got banned because after they released this event, it glitched the 2nd currency of the game...I don't even know why they had to wait 45 minutes to patch it, since it was really serious. I guess it was just a really bad decision and luck... It should have been a temp ban though. Most of the other people who got banned were people who actually payed for the currency in cash...so its a lose lose...

Now, I'll need to try to write a really nice appeal...  :(
