New Unit:Mercenary

http://www.4shared.com/file/842671/dc1e ... enary.html

this is my new unit mod for the tech faction, Mercenaries.

they're very cheap(25 gold), they're two times stronger thn the swordman, but they last last only a few seconds in game.

the point in that unit is to prevent early rushes from the magic faction.

now tech is more secure.
and the two factions are a little more balanced.

Interesting idea, of the Merc. I'm very interested in how you got that timer in, that it lasts only for a couple of seconds. (It looks good because a merc only fights for money. You pay him, he works, then he leaves rather quickly) May I ask premission to borrow that unit idea for my faction, Science, a new faction I am making that is basically a tech demo of what can be done with Glest?

and you can also make it last longer or less by increasing or decreasing
the unit's hp OR regeneration value

hmm....
most games i played with a merc idea...well i didnt turn out too well.
but an idea would be instead of stronger make them really cheap to produce but not all that strong either. Just a kind of thing to pump out alot of troops quickly and if you can make them constantly drain your money till you give em a command to disband or go away =)

Can also be downloaded from Glest: Evolution, with some changes:
- Includes an .html that explains how to install it. There's no risk to overwrite another extension.
- It needs over 1 MB less space.
- Modified icon (i've added some money to the swordman but quality isn't very good).
- With the default settings, it lives some time longer.
- With the default installation, it's produced in castle instead barracks.
