If you think those 3D models look crap you should know that they were done by me using my own 3D editor!  :D

I discovered that those captures are from glest 0.2, and you can actually download the game from here: http://plnehry.idnes.cz/strategie/glest.html, and it works!

It's amazing how far it's come!  You glest developers are doing a great job!

Edited to add:  As far as what the first version I downloaded was, 1.2.2 was the first I actually tried out.  I've been aware of the game for longer, probably heard about it a year ago or so.  With the screenshots from 2.0 I had to try it.

I assume you mean 0.6.0, because 0.0.6 was never releases to the public :)

Do you have anything like a release-history? Can't remember what was my first version. But maybe if you post the dates. Think it was 0.8 or something like that...

You've to delete the ',' from the URL.

This will work.

The first version I played was the one that was current back when I registered my forum account, some time in July last year. Ever since I've downloaded the latest versions, and 2.0 was a definite milestone. I really like the steady progress of Glest and the devotion of the development team. There's still a lot to do (did I recently mention how much I'd like a story-driven campaign?), but this is already a very playable, very fun game. Not as complex as some of the commercial games, but the potential is definitely there. Plus, it's original content, not just a copy of what's already there.

As for the campaign -- yes, an annoying topic, sorry devs! --, I wish I could help, but I can't code in C++. I probably could help with a story and the writing, but not with any programming. A scenario editor would be awesome. Hey, I can wish! :p
