Tech way way WAY more powerful than magic

I just finished a game using tech against three AIs with magic just to confirm my suspecion.

With the tech faction, you seem to be able to harvest resources faster.  Do the peasants work faster perhaps?  That gives one a huge advantage in the game.

And then the technitians can harvest gold even faster than a regular peasant.

Knights seem rather overpowered.  They can easily slaughter anything that comes their way, move quickly, and don't cost that much.  Doesn't a war mage cost more than a knight does?  And they die in one hit, while a knight has a fair amount of hit points.  Mages seem to have more upgrades that cost more in resources and time.

Has anyone ever beaten tech using magic?

Tech against tech:
Blimps have 1500 hit points.  An archer is lucky to score even 100 points of damage on one.  It can kill an archer very quickly, so its unlikely an archer would ever have time to fire off 15 shots.  Of course you could have 15 archers running around targeting one blimp after another, but that is unlikely.  And no other unit on the tech side can hit a blimp... well, technitians have air ballistas.  Didn't test those out.  Just had my units shooting each other to see what was what.

I believe dragons die much easier to the archer's arrow.

Just a thought really.  I'll guess I can just play around with everyone's stats and try to find a way to balance it.

Whats the most work any player of the game has ever done altering things?  Adding in new units, changing stats, making their own maps, etc?  Anything around worth checking out?

the ballista is very powerful, but it's stationary, no way to move it around.

I'm working on an expanded version of magitech, but it's far from finished. I'm altering production costs, movement, damage, adding buildings & units, upgrades, researches...

Wouldn't be possible without Taran's help, and now I figured out how to create 3D models and unwrap them, I guess it shouldn't take too long to finish it..

Magic vs. Tech

Alright, first post here from me.

I've been playing Glest 2.0.0 for a month now, and I started all my Games being the Magic fraction. All I can say is, Tech might have an advantage but not a great one.

Playing Magic AIs is easier because they are not using their units in the best way.

I found succes in fighting an Tech AI by building up a good defense with some Golems and some drakes behind to cover a fast aproach to the Archmage Tower and... Dragon Call.

If you can stop the AI long enough to produce some Dragons... you can kick serious butt!
Only these orni... copter..., ehm... you know what I mean, only they are able to take out your Dragons in the field, airships can't attack air, archers are to weak.

If you want to win over Tech AIs you gotta move over the field slowly with your golems. Back them up with a few dragons and drakes... you're unstoppable.

That is true, the magic faction is much less AI friendly, it is way more difficult to make a good AI based on units that morph, rely on upgrades to produce other units and have unconventional units like the colem or the giant daemon.

sure, the general idea is that tech haves the advantage, but try my
horrible (AI-damaging) "water world settlement" map. When it comes to aerial warfare, magics are the upperhand (mentioning dragons and those really hard towers of souls)
